002 [ Video ]
[ It may be an unfamiliar face to many! Malkus is actually appearing on the feed without his signature mask. Even a plague man like him needs fresh air now and then. His sickly facade wasn't far from the norm! That's just... his face. ]
Greetings fellow residents. It has been some time, but with the lull in disturbances I feel now's a better time than any to- ah-... discuss...
[ He scratched his claws against the wood of the bench outside, trying to remember what the hell he was going to say. As the pause grew, he could feel his social anxiety build.
Don't give them dead air, Malkus! The people hated pauses! ]
I am sorry, sleeping outside has left me- e-eh-... melancholic. I'd forgotten what I wanted to bring up. Ah! Yes!
[ He moved the feed to the mask sitting beside himself, placed daintily on a heap of papers and glassware. ]
As it often becomes a point of conversation, I would like to ask my fellow residents if anyone has actually had an epidemic ravage their land. I've come to realize I may be alone in this topic.

[ Maglor smiles at him ]
Tch now, you should leave off your mask more, look at you! You really must ask Elrond to take a look at you, I worry about your health!
As to your question - we Elves are more resistent to disease, but plauge and pestilence happened amongst the villages and cities of Men, and were a favoured form of attack from our Enemy.

I'm well, I have just been without a proper diet for some time. Are you speaking of the balrogs again? Was that the name? Those monsterous creatures you had mentioned before.
[ Without the muffling attribute of his mask, it really became obvious how much Malkus mumbled to himself during conversation. ]

[ He makes a face ]
No. Our Enemy had many weapons at his disposal - the Balrogs were the greatest of them, but not the more subtle. In later years, when his lieutenant was left to take his place, we had less open war and more of that sort of thing, pestilence that crept across the land, sickness taking whole villages, at times.

[ Malkus stared ahead, looking deeper into the wooded area of the park. ]
It seems as though a battle had occurred in this corner of the city. At least deeper in the park. The earth is quite disturbed and there's some damage further in.

Borne on the wind or carried on unwilling slaves that he sends in to the villages, or even in the wells. But the results are clear enough.
Ah? That is interesting - I have not been exploring in this place. I wonder if twas something to do with those Null.

[ He thought for a moment, audibly tapping his feet against the soil of the park. ]
That's the odd thing, though! For all I've heard about being unable to leave, there are many of us who simply vanish one day. It's disconcerting honestly.
[ And occasionally painful. Malkus was still pretty upset about Marian vanishing. He'd never even gotten to say goodbye! ]

[ Maglor shrugs - he's been a king, and a prince. He's familiar enough with politics to have no issues talking politely with people he may or may not dislike ]
Aye, I had heard that also, although fortunately not experienced it as yet. [ But he will, he is sure. If they want his emotions, they need only remove his family from his side, after all ] Have you lost someone dear to you?

[ When he speaks about it, his voice falters. As if thinking about more of his associates leaving produced a pit in his heart. It was a frustrating feeling; weakness. ]
The criteria for someone leaving or staying is such a mystery.
no subject
As to that, who knows? Perhaps they are no longer useful, or their removal serves some other purpose
no subject
[ Maybe they were threatened? The reason didn't matter anymore. One of his friends was gone and it left a small gap. The doctor shrugged, sighing again. ]
May be better this way, if they're back home where they wished to be. That's the goal, isn't it?
[ Though Marian's world was dead just like Malkus'. That didn't help his mood very much. ]

[ Malkus rubbed his face, reeling back at the feeling of his gloves on his bare skin. He'd forgotten he'd been maskless. ]
Just wish I had as much patience as I'd preach about.

[ Maglor hums]
They don't seem any more powerful than the Valar, who always insisted they were not gods. And they are certainly not infallible, of that I am sure. I can wait.

[ He pulled another smile, trying not to laugh at the thought of Maglor and the Taako twins standing side by side. ]
Beings of supernatural nature must differ throughout realms, as you and your brothers are so very different from another set of siblings I'm acquainted with.
no subject
And I hardly think of myself as supernatural! If anything, that title belongs to Men, who go out of the world and are not tied to it as we are. One of the words we use for you is "Guests", you know.

[ Malkus was jealous. His other friend mentioned she was something like over a hundred years old. Malkus was thirty three and already feeling like he ought to wrap up his life. Even Maglor had experienced so much. Granted a lot of it was frightful to the man, what with wars and enemies and everything. But it still seemed like such a longer story than his. ]
But I've heard that time stands still while we are here. Lord knows I don't know the first thing about any of that.
no subject
[ he nods ]
Nor I. But it would make sense, considering how they can pull folk from different times even within our own worlds implies a good deal of power.
no subject
I’m starting to get used to things, at least. Aside from the monsters at the arrival-arena, which I can just opt to avoid. I wonder what sort of folk we can expect this time around?
It’s been pretty consistent. Could almost set a watch by it.

Well, I could look at arming you, my friend, if that is what you want? My brother and his son are some of the finest smiths I have ever known, and I can teach, if you like?
no subject
Can they make ah- I don’t know how to describe it. I don’t up ‘n want an entire regalia of iron, but it would be nice for a small bit of plate I can keep under the robe. As for arms, I’ve actually scrounged about that armory we’ve got here! Quite a lot of stuff!
