'Sup, fellow cave dwellers.

[ Oh, boy. It's that time again. Rose usually only has a tendency to show her face on the network when she's got something 'fun' to say. This isn't one of the rare exceptions to that rule either. She's grinning ear to ear, obviously quite pleased with herself. Some might recognize the backdrop as Sorrow's orchard where she's known to spend quite a lot of her time. ]

Got a gift for ya'll.

[ At this point the camera shifts focus to a plant budding in the orchard's rows. It might look familiar to some. Judging from the dumb smile on her face previously, it's certainly familiar to Rose. ]

Figured after all the fuckery that's happened lately, we could use some chill. It's not a lot but it's a start and, like, a cave has the perfect growing conditions. We're all gonna' be 4/20 blazin' it before you know. But I'll need some help making sure it's taken care of.

That's what some people call us. Spirits, apparitions. Most people seem to like the word 'demons.'

[ Though it's clear from the way Rose says it that she doesn't appreciate that nickname quite as much herself. ]

There are different kinds of reapers?

Nah, you're not a demon. For one thing, you're way too cute.

[aaaaand, George flushes. did she really say that out loud? she did. well, she's not lying or anything]

Oh, yeah. Tons. Natural Causes, Malignant Growths, Plague, the works. I was assigned to Murders, Accidents, and Suicides. Basically, the ones who are guaranteed to ask you to take it back.

Well, aren't you a flatterer.

[ She's getting all kinds of compliments, it seems like. ]

Yeesh. Sounds rough. Why'd you get the short end of the stick?

[George is blushing bright red]

I, well. I'm just telling the truth.

[oh? what kinds of compliments?]

I died in a stupid accident. And I mean a seriously stupid accident.

[ It's a good look on her, really. ]

Oh, I. Well, no, thank you.

... Can't say that I have, no.

Well, it existed. And then, they decided to decommission it 'cause something better came along. The pieces were supposed to all land in the ocean, but some of 'em wound up in Seattle. One of 'em landed directly on me. And that's how I died and got roped into the whole Reaper thing.

... Huh.

That's some unfortunate luck. I'm sorry.

So am I. I mean, I was only eighteen.

[ Rose remembers when she was eighteen. Well, when she was the equivalent of it. That was... sure a time.

She hadn't thought she'd lived from day to day for a long while, but she did. In a way, George didn't but she was still here in some form. So that's better than nothing, at least.]

Too young, but... At least you got something of a second chance, I guess? You're not just. Gone.

[George's teen years were largely spent reading doorstopper sized books and avoiding every normal human experience you can have as a teenager. from friendship to dating to drugs to sex. she just. turned her back on it all]

Yeah. I'm still here. Dead, but still here. The other Reapers told me it was a destiny thing.

[ Rose's 'teen' years were spent in a hellscape of demons all trying to kill each other constantly. She'd have taken mundane any day. George shouldn't regret not doing more. She could have, and it could have been worse.]

Destiny can be a funny thing. I got back and forth on whether or not I believe it, really.

[yes, by comparison, George's teenage years were rosy and carefree by comparison. And it's true, George's graduating class included three pregnant girls and more druggies than you could shake a stick at]

Yeah? Me, too. I mean, if it is destiny, then why me? What's so special about me that I got to stick around when most people just. Die?

I think that's kind of the point of destiny, y'know? We aren't supposed to know why us, or why then, or why anything. It's just supposed to happen.

[there's a pause while she digests Rose's words]

...I guess so? I mean, who knows what would've happened if someone else got picked to be a Reaper? I kind of--tried to find ways around it when it first happened.

Well, that's why there's that one theory about - The Multiverse? Something like that, anyway.

[ Rose doesn't pretend to understand too much when it comes to Science. That's Newt, Hermann, and Alphys' territory. ]

There's infinite timelines and world out there. It's possible in one someone else did become a Reaper. Maybe one where you lived. That's just not the one you're on. But if they figure out The Door, who knows? It's possible you could be sent to a different reality of your world.

...huh. I hadn't heard of that before, but it makes sense. Why else would there be so many different versions of Earth? But I'm pretty sure I'm in the market for a new reality. One where I don't have to be a Reaper.

I hope you can have it. I think I'm, uh. I think I'm good where I am.

It would be nice to be able to start over somewhere new. And, what's your home like?

Nothing special. Just another version of earth, with a supernatural twist.

Seriously? Why is it that everyone else's world is so much more interesting than mine?

I mean. Not sure I'd call a world full of monsters 'interesting,' but.
