By now, I imagine that everyone is aware of the shortages we currently face. With Sorrow dead and Hope still in recovery, our food supply may be insecure for some time. And without electricity, it will be difficult for some of us to prepare what we do manage to find.
Under these circumstances, it seems both precarious and inefficient to let everyone scavenge for themselves. For now, I propose creating some kind of communal cooking space were we all can bring what we hunt and gather. An outdoor fire pit might suffice for now, although if someone else has a better proposal I would be glad to hear it.
Would anyone be interested in helping me to set something up?

[Hmm, how to put this...]
Hadriel can be very frustrating. None of us chose to be here, and at times both resentments and tempers can flare up. But I think most people here are well meaning, and can be counted on in an emergency.

Naoto.
Overall, do the people seem prepared to you? Are they - can they fight?

[He doesn't always manage it, but he does try to be polite. Particularly in Hadriel, with so many disoriented newcomers about.]
'Tis difficult to say, for either question. Many possessed skill in combat long before they came to Hadriel, while others never learnt at home but have taken up a weapon here. Still more are children, and too young to fight.
As for other types of preparedness...we have a guard and a clinic, both with capable leadership. I imagine others have many skills to contribute as well. But there is no sure way to tell exactly what others do and do not know.

[she wishes she could be surprised at that. it seems that no awful place is without its innocents.]
I'm good at fighting. [more than she'd like to be sometimes.] My father, he taught me, and I have his blade. I can do my part here.

[And the Null feel no compulsion to spare children purely on account of their youth. It is a very bad set of circumstances all around.]
You're brave to volunteer, Naoto. [You must make your father proud, is on the tip of his tongue, but if she has his blade...well. One likely explanation springs to mind.]
I will be glad to have your assistance with hunting, and you might also consider joining the guard. Has anyone spoken to you about it?

[and she's the best equipped to do it, more than most children. they're the ones who give her something to fight for.
naoto blinks and lifts her head again when he mentions a guard.]
Like a police force?

[Fingon smiles a bit at her interest.]
A group of citizens come together to make sure the community is protected, let us say. My cousins and I have been part of it for some time.

If they need another blade, I'll offer mine.

The men you need to talk to about the Guard are Henry Percy and Nick Valentine. Either or both should be at the construction site for the new headquarters. Have you happened to pass by it yet?

I haven't, but I'll make my way there now.
Thank you.

If you need any other aid in getting on your feet, feel free to call.

[she means it, and is a little surprised still, if only because she's not used to it.]
I hope you'll do the same if you need my help with anything.

My thanks, Naoto. I will keep the offer in mind.
