By now, I imagine that everyone is aware of the shortages we currently face. With Sorrow dead and Hope still in recovery, our food supply may be insecure for some time. And without electricity, it will be difficult for some of us to prepare what we do manage to find.

Under these circumstances, it seems both precarious and inefficient to let everyone scavenge for themselves. For now, I propose creating some kind of communal cooking space were we all can bring what we hunt and gather. An outdoor fire pit might suffice for now, although if someone else has a better proposal I would be glad to hear it.

Would anyone be interested in helping me to set something up?

I can help wherever I am needed. I"m already working on the building projects, but I will find some time to fish and hunt, too.

I'd love to go exploring, but first things first. Shelter and food for the community.

I can help dig the fire pit. Do you need me to construct anything? The forge, carpentry shed, and the sheet-metal and machine shops are all undamaged. I guess the Null didn't think to look in the notch between the forest and the river, so they didn't destroy anything. Besides, Cel and I destroyed them whenever any of them strayed too near our workplace.

We could use another hand with digging; Russandol's volunteered as well. I think we could use a metal grate? Some people might find that more reassuring than using a spit.

Of course you did; how dare they disrespect a Feanorian forge? Do you have any projects in mind for the metal left behind?

All right, can do. And yes, a metal grate sounds like a good idea. I'll get right on it and weld one together as soon as I know the dimensions needed.

[ Chuckle. ] No disrespect of that sort allowed! And oh, I've got so many things I'd like to construct that it would take an hour to list them all! But most important would be the tools that people will need for all these projects we will have to complete in order to have a livable environment. Right now, that would be digging and carpentry tools. Cel and I will gladly share the ones we already have, but many more will be needed.

And after that, weapons for the hunt. And little things like fishhooks for the fishing.

We can figure out the dimensions once we have the pit finished. Hopefully we won't need more than one to feed the whole city.

A good list. And it's not as though the Null haven't left enough scrap metal around to create the entire lot.

I like the idea of a communal kitchen. I'm really glad you brought up the idea. We were all so isolated in the murdercave, everybody off in their little enclaves or families, and not nearly enough co-mingling. Though that may sound a little strange coming from a Fëanorian. [ Wry chuckle. ]

Best I could come up with, and I took into account whatever others have suggested or asked for. [ Laugh. ] Oh, indeed, the Null left us enough scrap to supply many a project! I hope their spirits feel really generous! [ If a Null even has a spirit. Curufin has doubts about this. ]
