[She's had time...a few days at least... to sort through things while working to help others. She's holding together as best as she can, but she knows that things here are complicated.]

I'm sure that it's been asked before by others, but I've yet to really find anyone that I can talk to regarding this. So, I've decided to address as many as possible at one time.

[She stalling, she knows she is. And that's not like her. After biting her bottom lip momentarily, she just decides to face the problem head on.]

Has anyone else run into time paradoxes? People from the past and people from the future coexisting when they really shouldn't? Meeting those that otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to do so?

How do you deal with it?

[After she asks that question, her demeanor changes.]

Are there any particular projects that can use a slightly disoriented politician that is out of her element?

I ran into it. Although the ones from the future were mostly trying to kill me. My husband only exists because of such a paradox, though. It's a lot to deal with. I just haven't had much time to think, too busy fighting to stay alive.

Mostly I just try to tell myself that hopefully our timeline won't get changed anymore, and that at least I'm not dealing with it on my own.

You're only married because of a time paradox? How is that possible?

[That is what has her attention, okay.]

I'm not sure that I can trust those that are here from my...world. Trust is earned and I'm not ready to had it out.

His parents. His father was sent back to protect his mother because of his importance to the world. Another had been sent to kill her and stop his birth. And they fell in love after he was sent back...and he's alive becuase of it.

[She's uneasy, but if things really are this way here, can it really affect home that much? She has no idea. But she'll try to explain without going in too deep. At least as far as terminators, Skynet, all that. That was what screwed them before, the machines coming back to where someone could get their hands on them and replicate them.]

[Padmé listens carefully as the other woman describes the situation and attempts to process it.]

That is a complicated situation, and more logically than my own. Mine is more of a "Person A doesn't know something that I do and Person B is from the future many decades hence" sort of complication. It doesn't involve the very existence of another person hinging on it.

I've heard about that. How this place brings people from different points in time. I'm sorry, I imagine it's got to be confusing for you.

Confusing would be nice. It's tiring. [And it's not like she came here with a lot of energy in the first place. Dying is difficult.] I'm still not sure how we're brought here in the first place. I've heard the stories and theories, but I've yet to hear anything that sounds plausible without "magic".

[Magic is such a stupid word anyway.]

I agree. I'd do much better if there was some concrete, scientific explanation for it all. I'm not used to "magic" either.

It doesn't seem as if we will be getting those answers. I've... been in a similar situation. Mysterious organizations with power that not everyone can wield tend to not want to share that much.

Probably not. It doesn't surprise me at all...it's very typical, like you say.

And yet, I cannot settle for typical. A life lived through the typical is not something that one should settle for. Nor should one settle for not receiving answers for situations that one has been dragged into.

I agree. Although in my world, I had no choice. I had a typical life, for a child with parents in the military in my world can anyway, but it was destroyed once I grew up. Unfortunately, although we continued to search for answers about how to fight our oppressors, too many of the answers about what we'd been dragged into were already very clear. Our people had gotten overconfident and created the means of their own destruction. Things they believed they could control but ultimately underestimated. The search for answers now is for how to stop it before it's too late.
