[Video] ✧ 1st Address
[She's had time...a few days at least... to sort through things while working to help others. She's holding together as best as she can, but she knows that things here are complicated.]
I'm sure that it's been asked before by others, but I've yet to really find anyone that I can talk to regarding this. So, I've decided to address as many as possible at one time.
[She stalling, she knows she is. And that's not like her. After biting her bottom lip momentarily, she just decides to face the problem head on.]
Has anyone else run into time paradoxes? People from the past and people from the future coexisting when they really shouldn't? Meeting those that otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to do so?
How do you deal with it?
[After she asks that question, her demeanor changes.]
Are there any particular projects that can use a slightly disoriented politician that is out of her element?

What you need is to talk to one of the Jedi here. I've seen them use their lightsabers to cut through metal walls and ships.
[Plasma sword is better than a soldering iron, right?
Padmé happily takes the second glass and sniffs before taking a rather large sip of the alcohol.]
It's definitely strong. [No, excuse you, her voice doesn't crack a single bit.] Reminds me of some of the liquors of Alderaan. As for my troubles, I'm not even sure where to begin in this mess.
action
From what I've seen of lightsabers, they don't seem very suited to fine work. I wonder if we could make a tiny one? It's a technology I wasn't familiar with before coming here.
[She leans back, flexing her hands, and then smiles at Padmé as they drink.]
As you evidently are. Does that mean you're from their world? Anakin and that sand-coloured boy and the tall sulky dark one?
action
[And the Sith too, but for a long time they were just bogey men in history tales from before the Republic's creation. Her questions stop Padmé and she sighs before taking a much larger drink of the alcohol.]
I am, but it's not just a single world. It's a galaxy of planets. I've known Anakin since he was a small child. Luke is...our son. But I'm not sure that I know of a tall, sulky dark person from our galaxy.

That's what I meant, dearheart. The reality of which your galaxy is part. Hadriel is a nexus of realities - really, that's all that makes it bearable. I don't mind staying in one place, providing the multiverse will come to me.
[Padmé's last words snap Bianca's gaze, black and bird-bright, back onto her face]
Oh. Anakin has become a good friend, in the time we've been here.
[And then she smiles, narrow and pleased, and waves her hand at the disassembled machine parts.]
Our joint project is rather different in nature than yours. So it's Anakin you're concerned about telling?
no subject
[She doubts it because Padmé has always been rather proactive about everything.]
It's still early days for me.
And, yes, it's Anakin that I'm reluctant to talk to about certain things.

For most of my lives, I was someone who would have beaten her brains out on the cave walls before consenting to be trapped. Whether this is maturity or simple despair, I couldn't begin to tell you.
But we aren't here to discuss me. Anakin is a dear, lovely boy, and I would grieve to see him hurt; and yet.
[She sighs, seeming to draw further into herself.]
I had a friend, once. He would - he was a good man, understand. He would have carved his own hearts out before being deliberately unkind. But he always chose not to tell - I put it down to the vestiges of a Prydonian upbringing, myself.
My point is, it almost always left people more hurt than the truth.

Anakin is a good person. He wants to do so much good, take care of everyone, keep everyone safe. He's never stopped to think that there are things you can't prevent or change. No isn't in his vocabulary.
[She smiles as she remembers a happier time for herself and Anakin.]
It's really one of his more endearing qualities.
no subject
He's not wrong. I was - well. The trick to it is to understand that many things shouldn't be changed. That can be a hard and painful lesson.
no subject
I don't think that's a lesson that he will acknowledge so long as he draws breath. He's rather stubborn.
no subject
It took me centuries. Some people need to experience the destruction they can wreak before they learn a little restraint.
[She looks into Padmé's face and remembers that she's not talking about herself. The softness seeps back into her eyes.]
We do have an advantage here, dearheart. Hope is a little indisposed, since the battle with the Null, but he normally doesn't allow death to be more than a brief visitor to this city. It does leave rather more scope to learn from mistakes.
no subject
[She's alive. Anakin is alive. Her son is alive.]
Perspective is helpful in all situations, but what about Love? If Hope can gain a personification, certainly Love has one as well. And Hate too.
no subject
Darling girl. Do you truly think love and hate are different emotions?
We do have a Love-entity here. It's obtuse, unhelpful and entirely lacking in perspective - which is precisely what I ought to have expected.
no subject
But I find that it's often those we love the most that earn the most ire.
[Her hand comes to rest against the japor snippet that rests between her breasts.]
Love can confuse even the most steady of us.
no subject
Many people aren't so perceptive, politicians or not. Love is a great power, but unstable by its nature. Hope is far more reliable, much as it galls me to say it.

I see why you and Anakin are attracted to each other. A balance of opposing forces - and of course, that kind of balance becomes highly explosive when it's tilted.
Could you bear to tell me?
no subject
Besides, she's already tired of being upset.]
When we first met, he was a young boy and I no better, a slave and a queen. He hated politicians. I've been nothing by a politician since the age of eight.
Opposites attracting, balancing out one another. It's so romantic at a distance. But we're not so different. Hardheaded and impulsive, both of us, we're more alike that different.
