[For someone that had just arrived not that long ago, when shit was going down, Lydia seems... calm enough as she's merely watching the scorching suns outside from what appears to be some sort of building, though she's made it pretty clear she doesn't want to give away the exact location.

Until she's sighing and hopping down from where she'd been perched, hair tied back in a high ponytail and a grin crossing pastel purple lips to match an outfit that could be clearly called gaudy consisting of that color and deep gold. And shiny enough to blind a person if she didn't seem to carefully understand the angles of that and this contraption.]

Gotta say, my dears, I think I vastly prefer the sun... suns, I guess, being out compared to some dank and dreary conditions you evidently had previously. Not that I'm terribly concerned, I don't require the same... conditions you humans the like do to survive in an environment like this, let's say.

[She's gesturing outside again, grin never faltering the whole way, showmanship forever on display if she can help it.]

I'm Lydia and let me preempt everything you'll probably hear about me, I'm quite a generous person if you play by the rules~

[Oh well, she can try and needle it out of him later if she finds an opportunity, but for now she's remaining silent. He... probably has a point on that matter and she probably acted rashly and made herself look even more suspect than she already had.

I did say accuse, not that they were correct. They came into my home on their own free will and what happened was their own fate.

More or less. My home... well, we did offer some sort of prize if those that came could satisfactorily complete the challenges and prove themselves worthy of it.

Nothing I did was ever in direct malice but all part of the game, all part of what was already established, it was hardly my fault if they played poorly and then proceeded to try and cheat the rules. So yes, more or less.

「Ahahaha... sounds stupidly familiar, red flags everywhere.」

What kind of game was it?

Oh there were many facets to it, whatever our hearts desired to create and curate towards those that entered. The whole point of it, though, was how far was one willing to go to show the need for this prize.

What would happen if they lost or if they won?

[Oh, this is where she's having to search for the most proper and vague words as humanly possibly.]

I never claim that everything is safe, that's just the price that comes with being an adventurer in my world. Some have died in there, though that was due to a monster eating them or whatever, nothing I particularly did.

As for the winning... They were able to make a wish of sorts, whatever their little heart most desired. No strings attached.

No really, that is, way too familiar. He's not even sure if he's talking to someone who possesses the ability to summon some sort of Shadow Game or not, the similarities are way too unsubtle.」

What do you get out of hosting games like that?

[She's having to bite back a small laugh at that, pushing to sit up properly now.]

That's not the reason why. I require... something that's not the same as humans, or mortals, for that matter. To be vague about it, since it's just easier than all the details included, I require particular feelings to keep my sanity and life to continue as it has.

While my games are certainly a good source of that, the reality remains the same that they do help weed out those that would cause true harm to the world I was from.

If that made any sense, honestly.

[Ah, right, that little detail. She'd managed to read at least a little bit on what that whole mess was and she's shrugging.]

I suppose you could call me the same as them, though absolutely not to that level and absolutely not as insane to call myself a god of anything. [But she's sighing softly and just glancing away from the camera for a moment, setting it down to just show black before she's returning it.

Enjoy that skeleton where she'd been sitting previously and mostly hidden by a black robe.]

Lich. What you saw before was what I was before I became like this.

「Oh, that makes much more sense now. Only, not really because it only brings a plethora of questions. Not even about her, actually, but about another pair of Liches he kind of adores. So, no, his surprise doesn't come from the fact he's staring at a skeleton in the face all sudden, but at what her revelation carries with it.」

What's that emotion that you need...?

[Enjoy, Atem, she is actually legitimately faltering a bit here and just pulling her hood down for a moment over her face. This is where it all goes to hell, it really apparently does. But might as well see if any of it makes any sense anymore or if she's just going to burn any potential bridges here and now.]

It used to be love. That ended up not working anymore and we found that suffering worked far better in maintaining ourselves and our home in particular. It could be worse, I guess, but that's how it played out.

It doesn't quite show in the seriousness he shows, and why would it? It's not like she knows what is going on. Hahaha! Suffering, huh? 「That laugh doesn't sound to diverted, more like tense and a little bitter.」 You will have no problems sustaining yourself here, Lydia.

I can see why you'd adopt that kind of games. And it looks to me that you were doing the world a favor getting rid of undesirable people, so...

[For some reason that laugh causes her to tense, but she's not going to dwell on it for too long. No reason to, after all.] Given what I've seen here in my brief period of time, certainly seems that way. I prefer doing it at my own leisure, but this works just as well. Simpler. Less... messy.

[Whether she's fond of that comment or not, it doesn't matter, at least he doesn't seem intent on running out and telling everyone about it or attacking her. Hell, he doesn't seem hostile and that's a nice change of pace from what she's accustomed to.]

I did what had to be done, to keep myself and my brother alive and sane, after all. It was a nice bonus that we could help weed out those sorts of people in our actions. [She's going quiet for a brief moment once more, focus shifting to the ground with a soft huff of faked breath. Habit.]
