hadriel | Video 3 - Margaery's Apartment

[The video opens not in the Sewing Shop but in Margaery's apartment where she's sitting in the middle of her bed, a pillow clasped in her arms. she's looking down from the camera and she's in a bathrobe and nightgown, both wrinkled. her hair is disheveled and her eyes are heavily rimmed with red, as though she's spent a long time crying. which she has been. a whole day and night and a new day of crying.

she tries to look up at the camera, clear her throat and speak, but the words don't come. fresh tears well in her eyes and she looks down again, biting her lower lip.

a long moment passes with nothing but Margaery fighting back tears and silent. finally, she looks back up at the camera and speaks]

I--I thought people may want to know that Matt Murdock is no longer among us. His. His help was invaluable in the time before the Null invasion and [her voice breaks] he will be missed greatly.

[she brushes a tear off of her cheek, looking down again. she forces herself to look back up and continues]

I need to apologize to those I promised garments to. I. It will be at least another month before they're finished. I'm--I'm sorry.

[Margaery wouldn't wish this pain on anyone. it feels like she's been hollowed out from the inside, like the slightest push would make her collapse. but she tries to summon her courage. her voice still trembles, though]

Thank you for your kindness. We--we were so in love. I was. I was to go to his world. All I can do is hope that I still can.

[ Neither would Rose. Because of that, Margaery gets more sympathy than she might have otherwise. ]

I know how that feels. But, hey, if we can ever get away from The Null's fuckery and figure out The Door then hopefully you can be with him again.

It's hard to have hope like that though sometimes, so hold onto it as hard as you can.

[Margaery is a little overwhelmed by the sympathy she's been given. it helps, but she'd much rather have Matt back]

You've lost the one you love, too? Do you think there's still a chance I can be with him? Which god would I need to ask?

I have to hope. If I don't, I'm afraid I'll fall apart. I can't allow that.

[ Unfortunately, sympathy is all people can give. But Rose also understands that. Her sympathy won't bring Matt back, same as no one's could return Faith when she'd left. ]

A while ago, yeah. She was just gone one day and then... never came back. I guess she's happy back in her world, which is nice to know at least.

As for what god, I'm not sure. I never asked. It's my plan to stay here.

[ She doesn't say anything about hope. Rose is pretty tired of that notion. ]

[if sympathy could bring him back, he would be by now]

I'll likely have no way of knowing if Matt is happy and safe in his world. It's good that your companion is, though.

[the shock breaks through her grief a little] Stay? Forever? Why?

[were Margaery in her right mind, she'd find her new faith in hope a little ironic, given that she really dislikes Hope]

[ Why? everyone asks and Rose is getting tired of having to explain. ]

Dead in my world. Dead in Haven. This is the only place I'm not dead and I kind of want it to stay that way.

[ ... Most of the time. ]

[Margaery is dead in one world. she can't imagine being dead in multiple ones]

I see. I apologize if I've offended you.

[ Let Rose tell you, it kind of sucks a lot. ]

Nah, don't worry about it. I'm kind of like a cockroach at this point, just keep coming back whether people want me to or not.

[she'll stick with being dead in only one place]

If you're certain. And I don't see why anyone wouldn't want you back.

[ A snort. ]

You obviously don't know me if you don't realize like a good handful of this place's population would be happy to know I was gone.

I know that you are kind enough to reach out to one in pain. If that is the sort of person that people would be happy to be rid of, then they have very skewed priorities.

One small act of kindness doesn't make me a good person.

[ Nothing can make her a 'good' person in her eyes anymore, at least. ]

But thanks for that.

It's the least I could do.

[she sniffles a little and dabs at her eyes]

I--I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Margaery Tyrell, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. What's your name?

[ Hm. Rose hopes she has a good support system. ]

Queen, huh? Fancy. My name's Rose and I'm nobody important.

[in theory, she does. will she actually ask for support? that's far more uncertain]

I was. Once. [she tries to smile] You've been kind. That's important.

[ It's not like Rose has any room to talk. ]

Maybe you can be again. [ Wouldn't that be nice? Maybe Rose could go back to when she wasn't a monster either. ]

Maybe to you. To some people, I don't know. Doesn't negate the times I've been kind of awful.

No, I--the world has moved on without me and my husband, the king, is dead. His wretched mother sits the Iron Throne now. When the time comes, I'm going to Matt's world and I'm going to find him again. [she knows it's a longshot, but she can't let herself entertain any other option]

To some people, perhaps not. To me? I would like us to be friends.

[ Rose still isn't used to - after all this time - people who are so frank. ]

And sure. We can be friends.

[ Not like she has a lot of people she can actually call that, these days. ]

Thank you. I think I should be able to do it. I know a lot about him and where he lives.

[Margaery was trained to guile and politics, but right now with her heart ripped open, she doesn't have it in her to be anything but honest]
