Video 3 - Margaery's Apartment
[The video opens not in the Sewing Shop but in Margaery's apartment where she's sitting in the middle of her bed, a pillow clasped in her arms. she's looking down from the camera and she's in a bathrobe and nightgown, both wrinkled. her hair is disheveled and her eyes are heavily rimmed with red, as though she's spent a long time crying. which she has been. a whole day and night and a new day of crying.
she tries to look up at the camera, clear her throat and speak, but the words don't come. fresh tears well in her eyes and she looks down again, biting her lower lip.
a long moment passes with nothing but Margaery fighting back tears and silent. finally, she looks back up at the camera and speaks]
I--I thought people may want to know that Matt Murdock is no longer among us. His. His help was invaluable in the time before the Null invasion and [her voice breaks] he will be missed greatly.
[she brushes a tear off of her cheek, looking down again. she forces herself to look back up and continues]
I need to apologize to those I promised garments to. I. It will be at least another month before they're finished. I'm--I'm sorry.

video.
「They (he) would have noticed way before that! But, yeah it's the thought what counts. Aw man, is he being too hard on her? He knows that if he had allowed himself to be sad all the time, he would be... sad all the time. Hmm, that would explain certain things. Maybe he is. Which is why he had to find things to do with himself.」
Is there... anything I can do for you?
video.
[maybe a little too hard on her. Matt was her first and only true love after being married off for politics three times and she's taking his loss very badly. she reaches up to brush the tears from her eyes]
I--I don't know. Would you be willing to listen?
video.
Of course, would you like to meet?
video.
video. ➝ action.
「Because that's what he does... Right? Checking on people... Keep them company until they feel better. What else can he do?
Either way, it don't take him that long to reach the apartment and when he does, he knocks softly on the door.」
Margaery? It's Atem.
「Surely she's had other people over, worried about her.」
action.
[she, too, is used to checking on people, making sure they're happy and safe. she doesn't like feeling so small and alone and heartbroken. because it's not just a love she lost, she may have lost a second chance at life.
she comes to open the door, still wearing the wrinkled robe and nightgown and still teary eyed]
Please come in, Atem.
action.
Hey... 「He merely gives her a nod and enters the apartment.」
Have you eaten anything?
action.
Hello. [she shuts the door behind him]
I've--tried. Couldn't hold it down.
action.
「Yeah, just as he thought. He looks back at her, analyzes her for a brief moment and takes a few steps forward, he raise a hand at her, offering.」
action.
no subject
I got you.
「That done, he heads to the kitchen instead, he busies himself into making some tea, something to keep her warm.」
no subject
Thank you, Atem.
[she doesn't budge from where she's sitting]
no subject
But it's what he does. He cannot see people suffering and do nothing.
Just a couple of minutes later, he comes back to her with a warm cup of tea on his hands, maybe too warm for the newest weather they usually have now, but if he knows anything about sadness, and he does, is that sometimes not even the sun can help warming one up. He offers the cup at her anyway, and sits on the coffee table, right in front of her. He doesn't say anything, just waits for her to make her move.」
no subject
she's grieving over not only the man she loves, but for her second chance at living.
for a few long moments, it's like she doesn't even see him sitting there, she's so caught up in her own mind. finally, she takes notice of Atem and the offered cup of tea. she takes the tea from him with a murmured "thank you" and lifts it up to take a sip, her movements halted and strange compared to her usual grace]
...did you know that I'm dead in my world?
no subject
No, I didn't.
「Should he be sorry? For him, it is different, he still hopes with all his soul that he gets back home soon, because that's the next step for him, but the way she says it, maybe it is not quite the option for her.」
no subject
Well. I am. I was murdered by my mother-in-law.
[it's not an option for her. time has already moved on, so she's now trapped. she'd been counting on being able to move on to Matt's world, but it seems terribly far away now]
no subject
this is why he didn't marryThat's unsettling, dying, in general is, but the betrayal is what might hurt even more.」Why...?
no subject
My mother-in-law loathed me. She was jealous that her son had such affection for me.
no subject
... Love can drive people to do some regrettable things.
「He says it as kind as he can. To think it was his own uncle who betrayed him, all of them, of course there was a lot of other factors that none of them could have foreseen, but it is hard to see in the Dark. But he knows a little about it, he doesn't like knowing so much about the pain of other people but the fact is that the does.
There is not much he can say about that, however, the past is in the past.」
I'm sorry you've gone through so much pain, Margaery.
no subject
That's the problem. I don't think Cersei lost a moment's sleep over it. All those people, dead. Just to kill a few.
[betrayal stings no matter where it comes from, but it's from someone who's supposed to love you, it's even worse.
she takes another slow sip of the tea]
Thank you. My life--it wasn't supposed to be this.
no subject
How was it supposed to be?
「He cannot say he's curious about it.」
no subject
I was the rose of House Tyrell. I always knew that I would marry for politics rather than love, that much was a given. So my grandmother taught me politics and I learned well.
So when the War of the Five Kings broke out, my brother Loras suggested I be married to Loras's lover, Renly Baratheon who was making a play to be king of the Seven Kingdoms. [her voice turns rueful] That was a disaster. Renly was far more attracted to Loras than he was to me and the marriage was never consummated. Then Renly died and things just got worse from there.

You were to become queen...
「But she didn't. That opportunity was taken away form her, and now, this place had taken away her opportunity to love. It felt like a bad joke from the universe.」
Margaery... You've gone through so much. I wish I could take your sadness away, I wish I could bring Matt back to you, but I can't. No one can. 「He looks away, briefly.」 It is not a sin to be sad, it only shows how much you love him, how much you'll miss him, but... Please, don't let that sadness take you away, don't let it blind you. You, me... others are here for some reason, whatever it might be. I know my words are empty babbling to you now, but believe me when I tell you, I believe you still have yet so much to offer, here.
「If he's pouring his heart at her like this, is out of fear, that she might stay on that seat for so long that she stops caring about herself. He might as well do all he can to ease her soul somehow before it's too late.」
You're not alone. You'll never be. I will not leave you alone.「Not while he's here.」
As for what your future awaits... No one knows what will happen, no one. 「Not even those with the power of precognition, he's seen it happen it first hand, the future can change. Nothing is ever written in stone, and if it was, stones could still be shattered into pieces.」 You, we, are alive here, and we don't know what will happen tomorrow so, we might as well, live.
no subject
I did become queen. Three times.
[but it brought her no joy in the end. she was imprisoned by the Faith for lying to protect her brother and then had to play the part of the humble penitent to get herself out of prison]
I can't imagine what my purpose would be. When Matt was at my side, I felt as though I was supporting him, helping him be the man he needed to be to make a difference here. But me, on my own? I just don't know.
[it's good that he is doing that because right now, all Margaery can think of doing is staying in her apartment. it's going to be hard for her to make her way in Hadriel alone.
fresh tears well up in her eyes and she reaches out to squeeze his shoulder] Thank you, Atem.
I'm afraid to even think of what might happen next. [her own life, she never could have predicted] Live. Live and hope that when the time comes, I'm allowed to go to Matt's world. I know quite a bit about it. He lives in an area of New York City known as Hell's Kitchen and he's a lawyer. I know that if I'm allowed to go there, I can find him.
no subject
But again, this is not about him, so he offers Margaery the kindest smile he can pull off, taking her hand from over his shoulder between his.」
I'm sure you will.
「If she got there anyway. Some friendships, some loves transcended dimensions and time. He knew it. Maybe they were destined to it.」
