Check in, all of you. And Curvo, Kano, you should come home.
[A pause, then] There's something wrong with Maitimo.

Did he hit his head?

I would not have let him sleep if he had. Last night was normal, so far as I can tell.

[And Fingon's not even surprised, because this city]
It seems plausible. Elrond says he's seen this happen before and we should wait it out.

(He sets his tools on the wall and makes his way out.)
He knows and he wouldn't lie to you to spare your feelings.

[Nodding.]
I know. If he's right, though, there's nothing to do now except wait.
[And he hates waiting uselessly at the side of things, even when the issue doesn't involve Maedhros.]

(He is walking quickly back to the house.)
I'll bring you some tea.
(And he makes good on his promise a short while later, bringing Fingon a cup.)

You have my thanks, Telperinquar. [He closes his eyes, takes a sip and nods.] A good thing, too.
[It's easy to flash back to the early days after Thrangorodrim, when the healers had had to use tubes to feed Maedhros anything. He hates the reminders of those days.]

(He comes bearing tea, handing Fingon the cup. With the brew comes an embrace.)
He - (Celebrimbor moves to Maedhros's side and peers down at him.) I like to think he is having wonderful dreams.

[He'll defend them against genocidal enemies, but these gods are not the Valar and Fingon isn't giving them much benefit of the doubt.]
Besides, if they are responsible for this, they don't deserve prayers. But as we have no evidence....
[He leans into the hug and takes a sip of the tea.]
I wish I could tell. That would be a bit better, at least.
(Action)
(He takes a seat by Fingon, tucking a braid behind his ear.)

[And yet, is it too much to ask for something her can do to stop these things from happening?]
He does, the terrible worrier. It would never occur to him to take it. [Fingon's gaze lingers on Maedhros' sleeping form as he absently rubs the ring on his hand.] I can't sense him at all. I have tried.
