[Fingon leads him down to Maedhros' room, a sense of helpless frustration radiating outward. Behind the bedroom door is Maedhros, who still seems perfectly well if not for the problem at hand.]

Thank you, cousin. [ Not that Curufin doesn't feel he has any place here, Maedhros being his eldest brother, but tbh, since it was Fingon who had gone to the trouble of rescuing Maedhros all those years ago, Curufin feels that bumps his cousin up in the family hierarchy. Far up. Not the kingship, but the rescue. The thing that really matters. ]

[ He stands in the doorway for a moment, taking in the sight of his sleeping brother. The red hair is spilled out on the pillows and the red eyelashes veil the unseen gray eyes. The sleeper breathes softly, and he looks as though he is far away in some unknown dream country. Curufin comes to the bedside and sits down on the edge. He brushes a strand of that brilliant hair back from his brother's forehead. He speaks softly. ]
