Hi. ( Start with manners. It's only polite. ) I'm Serah. I'm one of the newer people here. And, well, back home I was a teacher. I know this place doesn't have a proper school or anything, but I wanted to help with that.

( Which is why she's stood in a building, one which has seen better days but is in one piece. )

I think, if we fix this place a little, we could use the rooms for hosting lessons.

( How can you say no to that optimistic little voice.

A breath before she speaks again- )

I guess... a little bit of everything. Math, reading, writing. But I think you should ask the other people what they can teach, too.

( To that end, she even provides the list she saw Dr. Sweets write up. )

[She hasn't heard of half this stuff, but then again she doesn't really know anything about school either.]

Is that the kind of stuff schools usually teach?

( Well, she'll have to see who's interested in using the place, first. )

Well... where I'm from. ( She would imagine it was the same in most worlds. Even in the dying future, Noel had had a teacher who taught things like that. ) You didn't go to school?

( Her tone's gentle, curious. There are so many kinds of worlds here. )

They didn't really have school where I was from. Not for my people, at least. [She thinks there must have been schools in the city, but she's never asked anyone to confirm.] I learned what I needed from the people 'round me.

voice;

( Ah, okay. That definitely makes her think of home, though, and all the things she's not doing because she's here. )

My friend, Noel, he said the same thing. His grandmother taught him all about our world's history. ( What would be Serah's future, if they didn't manage to correct the timeline. )

So schools weren't widespread where you're from either. [Hm.] You're friend had the right of it. The whole point of the people who come before you is learnin' something from 'em.

[It's a terrible hypocritical statement coming from her after the years she spent ignoring her elders' advice.]

( She probably shouldn't try to explain time travel over the phone, and so the word drops off her tongue, silence taking over for a moment.

Then again, they didn't have schools when they first moved to Pulse, either. )

It's complicated. But you're right. We have to help the children, so they can learn to think for themselves and deal with the things ahead.

( Ok Farron you don't need to start a speech. )

Complicated usually means yes. [And usually comes from adults trying to keep from talking to her. But she's more than used to it by now.]

I agree with helpin' 'em think for themselves. Kids ought to know how to be individuals, not just fall in line with who ever tells 'em to. Probably a good idea to teach the folks here not to just believe everything that comes out of these so called gods' mouths.

( It does, if only because explaining would be long and unbelievable. But all of that aside, Serah hasn't had much chance to interact with the gods yet, so she's curious about that statement. )

What are they like? The gods, I mean.

They kidnapped us. [Her tone's dry and disapproving. She has a lot of feelings on this subject and all of them are negative.] They're usin' us and expect us to be grateful 'bout it. I figure they're pretty much monsters.
