I have not had very much experience in preparing food in my life. It seems that such a thing would be a good skill to learn at this time. Is there anyone who could perhaps assist me in this endeavor?

At first, yes.

[Margaery, too, can't help wondering how useful such devices like stoves and things like canned fruits and vegetables would be to the smallfolk of Westeros. the preservation of food alone would be of great use in years such as the one they had when she left]

Yes, I'd imagine so. [she wouldn't know, either. she was raised to manage a kitchen, not cook in one. she takes the pot from him, sits it on the other burner and empties the tomato puree into it, adding spices]

[she'll write out an exact list of instructions and the recipe when she's done]

Thank you. I hope you enjoy it. [she smiles back]

Not this. [she laughs a little] We usually dined on venison, wild boar, mutton. . . but what about you? What did you eat?

Thank you for your confidence.

[she smiles back]

We had those as well, although my favorite was always the venison.

I can see how that would be a favorite. There's nothing that can truly replace a mother.

[Margaery's mother taught her to sew, but all of the rest of her education was left in the hands of her grandmother, the infamous Queen of Thorns]

[did Judith abdicate the throne in favor of her son? there's a lot of pressure in wearing a crown]

I can imagine so. A queen cooking dinner is--unusual.

[that all sounds complicated, but she can definitely see the value in a united kingdom, after years of civil war in Westeros]

May I ask why?

There was an invasion and your grandfather stayed behind to face them? He must be very brave.

[self-sacrifice of that kind is virtually unheard of in Westeros]

Even so, he stayed behind to give the rest of his family the chance to live.

[such a thing is unheard of in Westeros]

...I know what it's like, to lose family to violence. There's always the question of what if. And never any satisfying answers.

[she rebukes herself daily for not being more insistent with the High Sparrow and his men, for not breaking his neck on the spot, taking command as queen, and leading the people out of the Sept, but she knows there's no use]
