[ He grins wider and steps inside. ]

Thanks. I'm Kobra. Kobra Kid. I like your dress.

[she strikes a seductive pose]

Nice to meet you, Kobra Kid. My room's this way.

[she leads him to her room]

[ With a dopey grin, he follows her. Finally someone who really gets his whole thing. Bang first, chat later... ]

[ Kobra hangs around after they're done with the same dopey grin on his face. He'll never admit it out loud, but he likes this part more than the actual sex sometimes, anyway. ]

[ Kobra acts here the way he acts everywhere: like he belongs. It's a skill he's learned out of necessity, but he's always finding ways to project the sort of confidence that says he's happy where he is and he isn't planning to move for anyone.

[ They'd left some family behind, found new family in the Zones. Jet and Ghoul and Girl are just as much his family as Party is and he'd never leave Party behind for anything. ]

Family's the people you trust to have your back in a fight. Relation don't mean nothing compared to that. Party's just like that, but he's... I dunno. He's a good guy, y'know? Just kinda weird. Wouldn't trade him for a less stupid model, though.

[Laura's family consisted of her mother and her father in Twin Peaks with an aunt and uncle and a cousin in Montana. Donna was close enough to be a sister, but even Donna didn't know the whole truth about Laura]

Going by those standards, I guess I've got family here. I'm no fighter, though. And I've met weirder. At least you know he cares?

[ Kobra looks a little thrown for a moment, but it passes and he smiles like it was never there. ]

'Course he does. And you don't gotta be a fighter to do stuff for the people you care 'bout. Fightin' ain't just about fightin', y'know?

[ On the last fighting, he imitates a little punch. ]

[she notices and smiles at him, trying to put him back at ease]

I guess not. Sometimes, it's just about being there?

Or stealin' stuff while they're fightin'.

[ He grins like it's the most brilliant plan in the world, but it's not like he hasn't pulled it off at least a few times. ]

[she laughs and grins]

Oooh. Very sneaky. I approve.

Sneaky's good. Sometimes you gotta be good an' sneaky to get shit done.

[ Not that Kobra always nails it. ]

What's it like where you're from?

[she gives a wicked grin] Oh, I know. Being sneaky's kind of the best part sometimes.

Oh, it's. . . boring. [LIES] It's 1989, so no fancy technology, no exciting people. Just your usual small town stuff. How 'bout you?

No shit? It's 2019 where I'm from. That's what they're sayin', anyway. Hard to keep track some days.

[ He's only kind of sure of his age, if only because he thinks the dates aren't reliable anymore. ]

Last decade or so, things ain't been real shiny. Far as I know, most of the world's uninhabitable now. Only city I'm near's basically a fascist state, so we ran. Me an' Party, that is. Found the rest of our family out there. Ain't heard from any other cities in years. If they're out there, they ain't lookin' for us.
