"Um. Hey."
[Judging right away from the tone and lack of Russian inflection this time, the one known as Safronov has checked out, and Rey is Rey again.]
"So it looks like at some point when being... unwell, the upper floor at the Speakeasy lost its Casino manager, Firo. He helped to organize the whole thing with me when Delight's bar went out of commission, so... Would rather not have to keep handling the place solo. If anyone would like to help there in any way, it'd be appreciated."
[She'll leave the convenient signup at the Speakeasy/Casino available for those who wish to help.]
"And, um. Sorry for those who had to deal with one of my... other selves." [Yeah, she remembers. Some of it, anyway. She has complicated feelings towards Safronov.]

[Except she probably shouldn't ask Carlisle for something like that. Special tea or no.]
audio. (cw: drugs)
Definitely hiding the bodies. And scoring you the good drugs.
audio. (cw: drugs)
[It's bad enough how much she can change when she's just drunk.]
audio. (cw: drugs)
[Laura used to do cocaine regularly just to get through the day back home. she's had to learn how to cope without it and it hasn't been easy]
audio. (cw: drugs)
[Drugs from the future sure are something.]
audio. (cw: drugs)
[and she's being honest. she never liked being addicted to cocaine, but she couldn't deal with her many problems on her own]
audio. (cw: drugs)
[Rey's not a big fan of any of that shit, herself.]
audio. (cw: drugs)
[if even Laura Palmer thinks that drugs sound like too much, that's when you know that they're some intense drugs]

Is that really so surprising?
[Look at most of the people here. At least hers isn't completely blown up to a nuclear wasteland, like Nick's.]
audio;
I guess not. But part of me was hoping that in the future, we wouldn't fuck things up like we had in the present.
[for her, the present being 1989]
audio;
[Sucks for Rey, though.]
audio;
I know I wouldn't. Hell, I barely understand the history of the past twenty-five years after 1989. All I really get is that phones like these are common and everybody has computers.
[it does indeed suck for Rey]
audio;
[1989 was a long ass time ago, man.]
We've at least come a long way in cybernetics and gengineering. Though naturally you've got some utilizing these things for cosmetic purposes, for those that can afford it. Who needs fleshy human legs when you can just be a bipedal half-robot?
audio;
[she's aware. she has culture shock dealing with other humans from the 2000s]
I don't know, I'm kind of fond of my legs the way they are.
audio;
...
Modern cybernetics really sends mixed messages these days.
audio;
Mixed messages? As in what's better?

[They were organic and living once, too. Seemed they subscribed to the same school of thought that being an unfeeling machine is the way to be.]
But yes, finances has a lot to do with it. Not everyone can afford the procedure, or find a sponsor to pay for them. There are alternatives for research groups, but those can be... sketchy.
audio; (cw: abortion)
[there are times when Laura wishes she couldn't feel, but she'd hate being turned into something like the Null]
Sounds like a back-alley abortion. There's a fifty-fifty shot that you'd end up in a world of pain. Or dead.
