012 [Video]
[It's a nice, quiet day in Hadriel, at least as far as city-wide things go, but who knows how long that'll last. So Lance is taking advantage of it, both in terms of going out for a walk to get some fresh air and also making a post on the network; he has something important to talk about, after all.]
Hello everyone. I'd like to preface what I'm about to ask by saying that I understand some here may have concerns regarding speaking about this subject over the network, and so if you would prefer to talk in person I'm willing to meet with you.
[Another reason it being a nice day is helpful.]
I'm interested in hearing opinions on the issue of the Null that posted to the network a few weeks ago. In such a complicated situation it's difficult to consider all information and every possibility, and the people here have such vastly different experiences that can lead to unique conclusions and insights. The more ideas and reasons we all have to consider, the better informed our choices can be.
[Including, potentially, ideas of what to do about the situation other than the obvious two of 'kill it' or 'let it live happily ever after'.]
If you were not here for the last battle with the Null your opinion is just as important as those of the people who were present, as you're providing a viewpoint that, although lacking in specific experience, makes up for it with objectivity.
[In other words, they may not have a personal grudge against the Null that affects their opinions.]
I'd also like to note that this is all completely voluntary, and if you don't want to share your opinion that's fine; I'm just interested in hearing what people think and why, particularly due to experience and insight I may not have on a subject like this. Additionally, individuals who are still undecided in where they stand could benefit from hearing points and arguments they may not have had a chance to consider before.
Thank you.
[Considering this is such a serious topic, it can't hurt to be a little extra polite when asking people to do something potentially dangerous, right?]

Give it to the gods to interrogate. Or scrap it for parts.
text;
Do you think it's lying about what it said about no longer wishing any harm on those here?
text;
Probably, yes, I'm guessing the robot is a liar. Though let's say most people were guessing it wasn't, I still don't fancy another invasion over a guess.
Or let's say it's not lying now, who's to say it won't change its mind or even slip up? That its old programming can't come back or - since it claims to feel emotions now - that an event by the gods won't make E.T. do something utterly ridiculous like call home?
My point being there's a lot of risks to this and so far I don't see too many rewards that would make them worth it.
text;
Your point about the events is very good, and not one I've seen mentioned so far.
[So good thinking.]
Do you consider the threat that this Null poses, with all the issues you brought up, to be greater than the threat from other people here? A few joined the Null during their last invasions and helped fight on their side, even without the effect of an event.
text;
What's more, given the fact that a few of us joined the Null only further proves that even if that thing itself doesn't have bad intentions towards us, some of us might just find a way to use it to our disadvantage anyway.
All things considered it's a knot of unpredictable risks, with a very simple solution to avoid all of them.
text;
You don't believe the potential to find out something we could use against the Null in the future to be worth the risk, especially considering they plan to attack us again at next opportunity, whether or not we destroy this Null?
text;
[ Colour him curious enough to ask. As for the rest-- He's starting to see where this is going. Plenty of bleeding hearts who'll want to stick their neck out for the tin can. Might be worth playing along with, but... that's not the image he's looking for. ]
Do any of us know how to contact the Null and provide them with our location? If no, then the risk is much greater with the thing that could, on its own volition or otherwise.
I believe that it's worth cracking open for information, but we don't need to be its buddies for that. That's why we should give it to the gods to interrogate.
text;
[He's a little unclear on the specifics there.]
As far as we're aware of, no, but you were here during the last Null attack, right? Considering the information getting to them that time was coming from one of the gods themselves, and the gods were supposed to be investigating at the time to figure out who the traitor was, I don't exactly think they'd be too great at getting anything useful out of this Null.
