012 [Video]
[It's a nice, quiet day in Hadriel, at least as far as city-wide things go, but who knows how long that'll last. So Lance is taking advantage of it, both in terms of going out for a walk to get some fresh air and also making a post on the network; he has something important to talk about, after all.]
Hello everyone. I'd like to preface what I'm about to ask by saying that I understand some here may have concerns regarding speaking about this subject over the network, and so if you would prefer to talk in person I'm willing to meet with you.
[Another reason it being a nice day is helpful.]
I'm interested in hearing opinions on the issue of the Null that posted to the network a few weeks ago. In such a complicated situation it's difficult to consider all information and every possibility, and the people here have such vastly different experiences that can lead to unique conclusions and insights. The more ideas and reasons we all have to consider, the better informed our choices can be.
[Including, potentially, ideas of what to do about the situation other than the obvious two of 'kill it' or 'let it live happily ever after'.]
If you were not here for the last battle with the Null your opinion is just as important as those of the people who were present, as you're providing a viewpoint that, although lacking in specific experience, makes up for it with objectivity.
[In other words, they may not have a personal grudge against the Null that affects their opinions.]
I'd also like to note that this is all completely voluntary, and if you don't want to share your opinion that's fine; I'm just interested in hearing what people think and why, particularly due to experience and insight I may not have on a subject like this. Additionally, individuals who are still undecided in where they stand could benefit from hearing points and arguments they may not have had a chance to consider before.
Thank you.
[Considering this is such a serious topic, it can't hurt to be a little extra polite when asking people to do something potentially dangerous, right?]

But provided she is telling the truth, he likes most of what she says. It's well thought-out, and in terms of logic it's the same conclusion he's come to; it's important for them all to take the chance of getting more information, because the next Null attack is inevitable. Anything is better than nothing.
And then, of course, there's the moral issue, but he's kind of given up on many people here caring about that. Of course, her not mentioning it doesn't mean she doesn't care, but he's just going to focus on the logic for now.
But he'll get to the last comment first--]
There's nothing to apologize for; I appreciate the explanation. And you're right in that it's extremely likely the Null will attack again, so any information we can get will help us.
[But although he agrees, he still want to ask a few questions from the other perspective.]
But you really believe the chance of getting that information, especially if you think it's 75% likely this Null may be a liability, is worth the chance of it collecting information it could give back to the other Null? Whether in terms of our location, or about us as individuals?
Re: Video
I don't really know. It's-
I don't really know much about those guys, but I know about keeping a low profile. I'm a--I don't know if you guys have that, but I'm a rogue? And huh, staying outta sight and striking at the right time is, like, super important and stuff.
I think we're always at risk of getting jumped by those guys, probably. But acting on our terms is probably better than nothing.
Video
You're definitely right in that the Null still intend to kill us, as far as I understand, and it's just a matter of finding us.
[And considering that logic, he agrees with the rest of what she's saying, but he's trying to maintain a more neutral appearance on the network. Therefore--]
Would you be willing to meet in person to discuss this further?
[He'd like to talk to her more about the subject without the gods potentially watching, and he can also hopefully get a better read of how truthful she's being in person.]
Re: Video
Where do you wanna meet up?
Video
[It's his latest preferred meet-up location.]
Re: Video
Meet you there.
[Video --> Action]
Action
When talking about plans this sensitive, it's...well, it's a weird feeling. Uncertainty and lack of knowledge of details, specially on the security side, make you very prone to make mistakes.
She figures they can't hear and see everything...right?
Carey finds Lance easily enough, making her way towards him.]
Hey. Been waiting long?
Action
It's similarly easy to notice Carey, especially since she stands out, and... Generally looks really cool. But staring or even just looking curiously is probably pretty rude, so he just shakes his head at the question and focuses on the task at hand.]
Not really. It's nice to meet you in person; my name is Lance.
Re: Action
She's make use of her skills at some point. She's keeping herself prepared.
She holds out her hand.]
Nice to meet ya, Lance. [ That's a cool name, too.] So, huh...think this is a good place?
Action
It should be; I rarely see people out here.
[Most of the people in Hadriel aren't exactly the 'enjoy the peaceful outdoors' types.]
Thank you for agreeing to meet me in person. I'd like to avoid being any more obvious than necessary on the network; the gods don't seem to pay extremely close attention to everything going on, but they aren't completely oblivious either.
[And so he doesn't want to take the risk of drawing more attention than he already did by making his post in the first place.]
Re: Action
So, huh. What else did ya wanna ask? About the, ah, about the thing.
Action
[And it's not destroyed or or found by someone else or whatever else.]
Re: Action
Think they'd take people out or something?
Action
[It's an understatement, but that's okay. As for her question he hesitates a moment, shifting on his feet briefly.]
I don't think they'd kill anyone, but they wouldn't have to. Considering what they can do to us during events, I think it's more likely they would attempt to find out what they want to know that way.
[And while most of the events that have occurred while he's been here haven't been especially horrific, he's heard stories of other things that have happened in the past and who knows how creative the gods might get in the future.]
Re: Action
[ She grimaces at the concept, fully aware that it's pretty much the most realistic option. They wouldn't kill them, no, but they'd probably find a way to make them pay while getting something to feed off of.]
That sucks. It's so weird, they're all so-- the put up this act like they're the ones doing it but they have so, so we shouldn't blame them for this stuff. Like a dang forced Stockholm Syndrome play.
Action
[But his tone, which he doesn't bother to hide, indicates he thinks she's exactly right. He just wasn't expecting someone else to hit upon the particular specific idea.]
People here seem to forget they're not on our side, even if we might have a common enemy in the Null.
Re: Action
When everything gets ripped out from under your feet, you might get a little desperate for the good things, you know?
[ She crosses her arms, thinking for a moment.]
But we better handle one thing at a time. With...what we know. Which isn't much.
