There's a creature here who killed my friend, and injured my brother. I don't know what it calls itself, but my friend describes a woman with eyes as black as pitch.

[ His eyes are far too bright to be human, a feral fire lit behind them ]

Have a care for yourselves, for it has, apparently, killed at least once and tried to do so more than that.

[ And then almost absently ]

Findekano, my king, I ask your blessing on my hunt.

[ And you know, permission to torture and play with his prey but he won't say that aloud ]

Where--[she takes a moment to steady her voice]--where are you right now?

[and she hurries herself along to the forge. she's slightly out of breath when she arrives]

Maglor? I'm here.

[ Maglor comes out to her in full armor, as he has not worn in Ages, the eight-rayed star of his house blazoned proudly on his shoulder, his hair braided back, although he wears no helm ]

Margaery. [ He murmurs softly, coming to catch her hands and draw her inside ]

You need not have run! Come in and sit - Tyelpe won't mind if we don't go in to the actual forge where he's working. Do you need a drink?

[she's never seen him in armor before. it looks frightfully thin compared to the full plate armor used in Westeros, but she has to assume that he knows better of such things than she does.

she squeezes his hands and is drawn inside]

I was worried that I wouldn't catch you in time. [she lets herself be pulled in and takes a seat] No, I just. Needed to see you.

[ The armor is Celebrimbor and Curufin's work, forged with all the protections they know how to give, checked over and reinforced again by Celebrimbor. It's far lighter than true plate, lighter even then that which most elven footsoldiers wear, but Maglor's best assesst is his speed, and the armor will maximise that ]

Celebrimbor is still checking our weapons and armor, my brother and I. [ he smiles at her encouragingly ] We are not in a rush. Necromancers are annoying fores to face, and we should be properly armed.

[then she will have to trust that they all know what they're doing, but still, she cannot help but worry]

[she tries for a smile, but it's likely tremulous] Good. I'm glad that they're assisting you. And you've defeated necromancers before?

Aye, they were a favourite of the Enemy's. [ He grimaces ] Although I do wish we had Elrond here still! Luthien's line has a rather unique advantage, dealing with such beings. But we've managed without him before, and will again. At least it's not a Balrog. I won't ask Fingon to face one of those again.

[ Although equally Maglor suspects Fingon might just as easily decide to take a single Balrog as an opportunity to remind them that he is, in fact, Fingolfin's son, and absolutely can kill them if not ganged up on ]

It's good to know that you've faced them before and prevailed, but--but I have the frail heart of a woman and I still worry. [she wrings her hands without being aware of what she's doing] What's a Balrog?

[ He refutes her immediately ]

Tis no frail heart, woman or otherwise, that worries for its friends! You have been sorely hurt, Margaery, not just your body, but also your sense of security. It is right and normal that you worry now, and no weakness.

[ He covers her hands and squeezes gently, but his voice is grave, and his eyes are inhumanly bright ]

A demon of fire and shadow, the greatest of the Enemy's servants saving only his Lieutenant. They were Maia of fire, once, and those he loved best to corrupt. They are great and terrible, but when they fell they bound themselves to a physical form, who do not normally hold such forms except as clothing. And so they can be killed, although the doing is hard.

[she stares into his eyes]

I--I suppose. Just tell me that all will be well and I'll believe you.

[the squeeze stills her hands]

They sound awful. Just awful. I hope that one never arrives here.

So do I. [ Maglor says grimly ]

They are fell foes, and I have lost too many kin to them already.

Surely, not even the so-called gods could be so cruel. . . [her voice trails off]

[ Maglor shrugs ]

I trust them not, but they would be fool indeed to bring in one of those.

To torment the new arrivals, perhaps? I can't imagine any other reason.

They would be more like to be a new arrival.

[ he grimaces ]

Truly? Ugh. Isn't that demon enough for us to contend with?

They are people too, after a fashion. [ Maglor points out with a grimace ]

Hardly mindless beasts, I'm afraid.

Then let us hope that the gods do not see fit to bring such a being among us.

...may I stay here and await your return from doing battle with the demon?

I would certainly hope so, as well. [ He agrees fervently.

A nod, and he presses her hands gently ]

Yes - I would feel better if you did, in truth! Nothing evil will get past our wards without being a great deal stronger than it has shown itself to be. You'll be safe in our home, or you could stay with Sansa, who has the same protections enabled.
