[the video opens on George, sitting on the edge of her bed with her legs crossed. she looks curious, but also a little sheepish as what she's about to ask is . . . personal.

So, uh, I was kind of wondering. How many people here died before they came here? And how many are now immortal?

You know? I had thought about that before. It was mostly a joke but, maybe it would help.

Well, when you put it that way. . . you'd be welcome whenever. Even if it's just, y'know, one on one conversations.

[she's pretty when she smiles. even prettier when she tries to dress up. problem is, her self-esteem is so low, she never sees the point in trying]

He smiles at her. She's cool, following his stupid jokes and all.」

[she would blush like hell if she was told that.

and she likes him a lot. he's nice, he's funny, he didn't take offense at her really personal questions. all of those things means that he's someone she's going to want to spend more time with in the future]

I like to, but I don't have to, no. During the weeks of the Null attack, I spent the whole time in the Clinic with no breaks.

「And you know what? He likes her too, which is why:」

「He's a bit of an old fashioned guy, using the device feels a little impersonal, specially if it's about these topics. Though, texting is pretty fun.」

[she's still so new at this being liked thing, she wants to fistpump whenever it happens]

[yeah, it is a little. back in 2003, they had cell phones, but nothing like what they have here]

「He spends most of the day hanging at the casino, but there isn't always people there, so when that happens, he just hangs out at the ground floor, helping with the tables or whatever, so, when she arrives, he might be messing with drinks at the bar.

He sees her enter and greets her from afar.」

[George waves back and comes on over]

So, any drink specials you'd recommend? I usually just go with a whiskey sour, but I'm in the mood for something different today.

Different, huh... I'd normally go for beer or wine.

「Simple and easy.」

Never been much of a beer drinker. Tried a sip of my dad's beer when I was eight and that just kind of ruined everything.

[George tends to go for hard liquor or mixed drinks]

Sure? I mean, why not?

When I was eight I didn't like it much either, but, got used to it. We didn't have as many options as we do now.

But he gets himself busy into making her something that will probably not taste horrible, you cannot go wrong with some vodka with some citrus and raspberries flavored stuff, they are not raspberries nor citrus, who knows what the hell they are, but they taste very alike anyway. The drink itself is actually blue in color... these alien fruits are strange...

He mixes that with a lot of ice and serves two glasses, then he goes around the bar and takes a seat next to her.」

Hmm, don't blame me if this tastes funny, I haven't had much practice.

「At least it's gonna be cold, and against that weather they have, it's better than nothing.」

Yeah, now it's like there's a liquor for every day of the week.

[she's mostly gotten used to the strange alien fruits. some of them may look weird on the outside, but all you have to do is peel them and they're all right. and, blue! pretty.

she watches curiously as he mixes the drinks. she's never tried to do this herself before. and she smiles as he takes the seat next to hers.

she takes a sip] No, it's good. Thanks. You been working here long?

[cold drinks are always nice on a hot day]

Nope, just started a couple of weeks ago.

「Ah, yes, it's cold, a bit too sweet for his tastes but it's fine, it's not an every day thing anyway.」

I've seen you around before, 「On the network.」 I guess we just didn't quite have much to talk about until now.

「He's really never had a crush before. Only he has, but he's not gonna talk about that. Boys.」

But how long have you been here in Hadriel?

Oh, jeez. Months. Hard telling how many, though, since it was Christmastime when I left and I have no idea what month it is now.
