Hey, guys.

[Tranquility sounds tired, worn out, a little defeated.]

Thanks for coming for me. That's not how I would've wanted it to go down, but... well, I'm here now. And at least Delight started fighting for us again there at the end. Everything she did, as bad as some of it was, was to try to keep us safe in her own misguided way.

I'm gonna miss her.

Anyway, we're kind of in a crappy position now. The Null are almost certainly gonna track her essence, the parts that ended up here. So we've gotta move, but we're running out of options and time. They've killed one of us already, and they were going to kill me. We've gotta decide how we want to play this. Your lives are on the line here, too, just as much as ours. Maybe more.

Wherever we go, the Null are gonna find us sooner or later. It kinda comes down to whether we want to try to strike against them first, or whether we want to find a more defensive location and shore up, wait for them to come to us. We have a few different options in terms of locations, some of which we've been to before and some we haven't. Thanks to a bunch of you guys, I have a lot of information about where the Null forces are, which places will be less safe or more safe, so take that into consideration.

There's a file attached to this with the info I've collected from you, and from what we already knew. Take a look at it - or don't, I'm not the boss of you - and let us know where you want to go.

[the transmission cuts in and out since their party is quite some distance from the city in the mountains – and under one – but Law is sure going to give it the ol' college try here. Part and parcel of his campaign to share information publicly]

I'm recording this in the hopes that it can reach the city, but if not, I can replay it later when we return. We've reached a bunker [fzzt...garbled words] like the caves, for those who’ve been here long enough to remember. This one has a surprise in it.

[he pans over to where Caedra is eagerly poking at a star chart of some kind, a technological marvel with shining points of light. Now, pirate boy here has seen maps before but star maps are pretty unique, even for astral navigation. The room itself is pretty technologically advanced, event compared to Hadriel itself]

This is...something between technology and magic as far as I'm concerned. If you touch one of those stars, you feel things. Emotions but also physiological response. Even though [fzzt] in here I felt cold, it stimulated nerve sensation. We're testing out as many as we can before we get tired of it but I wanted to send back an image.

[It's at this moment that Caedra reaches forward toward one of the points on the map, but quickly she withdraws her finger with a hiss of pain and a glare at the offensive point of light.]

So far that's all we've found here. No natives, no bodies. I plan to col- [more garbling and pixelating] before we come back. Oh...and it's just the two of us now. Black Leg-ya disappeared an hour ago, right in front of us.

[he looks vaguely disgruntled about that. Lucky bastard gets to go home. Law out]

[The video opens up with the Viking sitting on the ground. It's clear he's not used to working the device, but Alfred's given him enough instruction for him to work it competently. He's scratched up and bloody, but most of the gore on his face doesn't look like it's his. In fact, he looks rather pleased with himself, all things considered.]

If anyone sees one of those tentacle creatures with a knife stuck in its eye, please retrieve it for me. I was rather fond of that particular one.

[He pauses and grimaces.]

Also, are there any healers adept at fixing broken bones?

[the video opens on Jane in the same overstuffed armchair she was sitting in during her first video, only this time instead of sprawled out on it, she's sitting up, legs crossed at the knee, foot pumping in the air, and a notebook in her lap with a pen poised over it for taking notes]

So, I've gotta know what you think of the gods? Which ones are your favorites, which ones do you hate, and why? It's for research.

Thank you for retrieving the fragments of the Door. It seems that the rogue Null's information was somewhat accurate after all- though judging by some of the encounters with Null scouts, I believe it would be irresponsible to rule out any attempt at foul play on its behalf.

With the new fragments, I can experiment with making the Door more complete and responsive to complex tasks. As it is now, the monthly fluctuations are very chaotic and noisy- they bring in various people from different worlds, but also monsters, objects... and it releases a massive energy signature, which is why we have needed to relocate constantly since activating it.

My goal is to not only reduce these energy fluctuations, but also give me more control over the Door- who it brings in, what it brings in, and... yes, eventually finding a way to send all of you home or to a neutral place when this is over. With any luck, I can put in a failsafe, so that if we become overrun with no hope of survival, then I can send all of you away in a moment.

Finally, I may be able to use the Door to move the city instead of relying on Fear's power- this way, we can avoid any incomplete transfers and be able to move the city without the Null, even if the Null are invading.

To accomplish all of this, I need the fragments that have been collected. You may leave them at my temple.

Tell me, Hadriel, I am curious. Are there any artists here?

I will admit I am not an artist myself, but I do consider myself a collector and you see I'd like to...well, let us say... update this house a little bit.

[Watch out, Newt, he's decorating.]

If you are interested I am certain we could find some arrangement by way of payment.

[From the angle shown, Ravine is holding the phone away from her face, elbow propped with her chin in the palm of her gloved hand -- and even now, hints of black smoke continue wafting from her hair and coat.

[ Although apparently uncomfortable, she flashes her smile just as she always has.]

"Well, for those who believe themselves capable, I would advise against any attempts at reaching that ninth god beneath the Colosseum the easy way. It leads to some rather ill results."

[She would know.

[Soon her gold eyes shift back to the soft brown most are used to seeing when she is not wearing her sunglasses. Once she is feeling a little better and not radiating black vapors anymore, her stern expression transforms into a smile, her face scrunched in amusement.]

"For anyone not interested in that, however, I have a question!

"Imagine, if you will, that you have been a dead person for thousands of years. It has also been that long since you've ever felt or tasted anything.

"Then imagine if you have been given an opportunity here to be a living, breathing person -- but only for a few days! Would you mind sharing what you would do with that short time in the mortal plane?

"I admit, I am perhaps looking at this from a dead woman's perspective, but it does not appear that there is much to do for the corporeal here when there is not a festival being thrown by our gracious locals. It would be a shame to put such a generous gift to waste."

['But Ravine, why not just ask the gods to make you permanently living?!' one might say.

[Yeah, no, that is the one thing she is not addressing right now, thank you very much.]

[much as he really should wait and learn more information generally, Law feels like he has enough to go on to make this...declaration. And question. Mostly question but there's some solid plans up in there too.]

Is there anyone present with the capability of building pressurized underwater vessel technology and passable engines from the parts we have at the lab? If not that, what about breathing apparatus for underwater exploration?

Without a submarine, at the very least we'll need a vessel capable of holding up to lengthy journeys and containing supplies for the trip. Curufin, Floki, it's time we got working.

[those who know him well might note the lack of his casual -ya on those names]

I'm sure our hosts will be on this soon enough, but I'm not waiting for them. I'm also not planning on taking the entire city on a pleasure cruise. When I form a crew it will be of the most capable and functionally useful sailors, fighters, and explorers only. And the position of captain is already taken. [S M U G] As is ship's doctor. I could use a navigator so long as their experience isn't solely a set of stars that don't exist here.

Hello!!!!!!

[Name] knows it is not supposed to talk to you anymore but this unit has accessed memory from before the infection! The Null had asserted that the majority of the people of Hadriel wanted to go home and said that they'd help you, is this correct? Is this still true? Because I think I can help you!

I do not want anything in return, except maybe for you not to kill [Name].

The city has moved around so much that getting concrete data is difficult but my scanning capabilities are at 79% and I'm beginning to get results from my efforts.

[Retrieving Data. . .]

I have found the ninth god.

The parasite is at [x,y], twenty-four feet underground, beneath what you would call the Colosseum. It is kept in a small room underground, hollowed out from the earth. The body is circular, six feet in diameter, and is constantly moving.

Fragments of its body are also on the ocean floor, within a four hundred mile radius. Two complete pieces, one in multiple pieces. Fragments do not have the same energy signature as the parasite but is composed of the same material which has not been located anywhere else in this city or on the surface of this planet.

Locations are [x,y], [x,y], and [x,y][x,y][x,y][x,y][x,y].

[End]

There! I hope that helped!

[ On the south shore of North Island, Ignis Scientia and Curufin Fëanorion stand in front of a stack of boards. The construction of the North Island pier has commenced. It will be a low, narrow, and simple structure, but solidly built. Shovels, picks, hand-crank drills, and sledgehammers are leaned against the embankment, where it is obvious that some earth-moving is already taking place in order to accommodate the structure as it goes up. The logs that will stand upright to uphold the walkway are already cut and shaped and are ready to be driven into the muck at the bottom of the water. Saws, hammers, pliers, and other tools are stacked neatly in their bins near the lumber, and cans of nails and fasteners. Gleams of sunlight break through the clouds occasionally, although a faint mist lies on the water, and the breeze is slight. It's a great day to work, not too hot and not too cold. ]

Welcome to our humble construction site! We intend to make life easier for anybody who uses a boat. Now you won't have to moor offshore and wade to get to the beach, just tie up at the pier and stroll along the walkway. When we're finished here, we'll move on to the other islands and do the same, so that everybody has a place to dock. We have some highly skilled people lined up to work with us already, but everybody who can dig or wield a hammer is welcome. We'll find you something meaningful to do!

[ They also won't mind if you show up just to cheer them on or serve the food. There are some tables with sandwiches and drinks, but the workers won't object if you bring more. ]

[ OOC: Ignis or Curufin or both will respond, and of course feel free to mingle! ]

[ And the post title is a quote that I mangled, from Criss Jami's Killosophy. ]

Hadriel!

[Ianchus is almost breathless, excitement flushing his face as he speaks rapidly to the camera. His eyes are practically glinting.]

I've had the most wonderful idea. A party--a celebration! Of all of you, of us!

It'll be at the Hot Springs--ah, Lady Rey, would you be so kind as to grant me some barrels of your alcohol? And I'll arrange transportation from any other islands, of course. I would hope that anybody with a boat would be so kind as to share it.

[His words are imploring, and yet somehow give a hint that there's no room for argument.]

Please come! You are all invited! Come, drink, be merry, revel in yourselves, in each other! What better place than our own open-air springs, no?

...Ah, and food, there will be food too. From the orchards, and from our little stores, of course--but bring whatever you wish! Still, I assure you, I will take full responsibility as host to ensure that you've all you need!

So! Please! It will begin...ah, tonight, then, tonight! At the eighteenth hour!

[He pulls back and gives the camera a little bow, still grinning.

He never did mention when it would end.]

[ It's been a little while now, since Floki arrived in this world. He's had a lot to deal with, emotionally when it comes to the Gods here. Believing that any interaction, involvement or acknowledgement of them is a direct insult to his Gods, the real Gods!

It's also taken him a while to get used to the communication devices. Floki is fluent in Runes, one of the lucky and knowledgeable Vikings that managed to teach himself how to communicate through them. Floki could read and write, understand and create tales through this means, yet the phone device he was given? This was all new and strange.

So, here he was. The first appearance over the network sat in what looked like a beautifully crafted, ornate wooden Viking boat. The head was of Fáfnir, the mythical Midgard Serpent. Floki slumped against he neck of the dragon, a smirk-like sneer pulled over his lips. He placed the phone on the side of the boat, freeing his hands so that he was able to pick up a rather large wooden statue he'd handcarved himself. ]

May the Alföðr himself, bless my boat.

[ Raising both arms to the sky, fingers twitching in random movements, a strange chirp of a giggle left his lips before he stroked the statue with one hand, a gesture of praise with his other, moved down his forehead before kissing the knuckle of his thumb. ]

The true Gods should be pleased to see someone still worships them. I shall be blessed a bountiful life so long as I reject these false deities... And you should all be wise too, turn your back on their lies, for Odin is forgiving of the ignorant and blind but not those who will turn their backs in blasphemy.

[ Turning his head aside, Floki spat at the ground as if he was so disgusted in what he was saying, disgusted that people here fell for the glamour these so-called Gods had them under. ]

[ The video shook a little before finally landing on his face. Well, the profile of his face. Seth had turned it on without realizing then stepped away. He glanced back, catching something moving in his peripheral.

Shit.

[ A look of illumination graced his features and he stopped his approach to turn off the feed. Seth cleared his throat, his expression more accepting of their surrounding circumstance than his frustrated focus of seconds ago. What could he say? He was glad to have a speaking voice again. Might as well put it to use. ]

If there's somethin' that getting sucked from one mess to another's taught me, it's that nothin' lasts forever. All this shit's temporary... I couldn't talk soon after ending up here. My better half couldn't hear. And some of you got acquainted with the pain in the ass who lives with us, Leo. --Who by the way, can't exactly help what he is and didn't fuckin' ask to be made but still lives buy a code. But I digress...

[ Seth sat back after the brief introduction of sorts. ]

I'm Seth. Seth Gecko. You've already met Leo on here. As my Bonnie once called him, 'a walkin'-talkin' after shave commercial' who sang for you. Margo hasn't graced you all with an appearance yet but that's probably thanks to the roller coaster we've been through since arriving. She'll no doubt talk about magic when she does. Me? Well, I'm just a run of the mill guy from Kansas City. No powers, though not too bad with a piece.

[ He leaned forward and pulled out a gun tucked at the small of his back, brought it to view then returned it. ]

So if I haven't bored you all to hell yet, maybe some of who's left can enlighten me on what life's been like here? It seems the breaking up into islands is something new. Before ending up here, the three of us were at a place in France--or at least, it seemed French--that nobody could make a sound or chance gettin' torn apart by monsters.

Anybody sharin' insight about life here, you've earned yourself some manual labor. Or anythin' else I can come up with.

[ He offered an expectant look at the end. Not quite a smile, but a signature move when trying to get something without the means to obtain it otherwise. ]

my thing is mostly evocation, which basically means i can set shit on fire or zap it, but i know a lot of defensive spells, too.
i'm not teaching anyone any necromancy or anything, so if you guys have more cool ideas to go lich or want to try some other stupid shit, find another teacher.

Isn't this amazing? Curufin made it for me. It feels great to be able to play again. Hannibal was giving me lessons back home.

[She pauses and pushes any sadness at not having Hannibal there to listen, out of her mind.]

I think I'm pretty good. And I found something that helps me play. It's this.

[She holds this up to the camera]

I know it looks strange. It had this feeling I needed it. It took me a while to figure it out. it's a prosthetic ear. And it works. I need it because I'm missing one. I can still hear on that side, but it's muffled. With this, everything sounds more clear. So if you see me wearing it, don't get too weirded out. I cover that side of my head with my hair usually anyway.
