Video 2
[the video opens on Jane in the same overstuffed armchair she was sitting in during her first video, only this time instead of sprawled out on it, she's sitting up, legs crossed at the knee, foot pumping in the air, and a notebook in her lap with a pen poised over it for taking notes]
So, I've gotta know what you think of the gods? Which ones are your favorites, which ones do you hate, and why? It's for research.

utterly repulsive

I'd like to know why you think so.

look at them they pretend to be human, they keep us restrained, they want things from us and offer nothing in return, theyre childish and horribly afraid of taking any sort of risk so they sit and suffocate us and meanwhile do nothing but rot slowly away
theyre like some vestigial organ, nobody needs them anymore. their people are gone and they should be too instead of clinging to some useless past that involved them once but now no longer does

[she didn't say anything because she had nothing to say. that doesn't mean she didn't pay attention to other people's conversations]
Why so much dislike towards Love?

you can control your fears, your anger, your sadness. not always easy but it can be done.
how and when you feel love is not something you can easily choose.
[In Rey's experience, especially.]

I can't say that I'm entirely fond of anyone who claims to be a god. Hate isn't really the good word for what I feel. It suggests I care more than I really do. [He's overall massively irritated and unimpressed. But this place holds enough interest for him to not really hate the so called gods. That might change in time, though.]
So it's like indifference? Or is that not the right word for it, either?
[the gods don't interest Jane much, but she has to get a general idea of what they're like if she wants to write her play]
That's about right. I don't find a single one of them more detestable or pleasing than the rest.

I know I have to have Fear, Rage, Confusion, Hope, Sorrow, and Delight in there.
So I need to know what people think of them.
The good and the bad.

Sorrow's my favorite though. When I first got here, he was the first god I got to interact with. We talked a little then about coming back and what that all meant for them. He said something about how he wanted his family back and as someone who had just lost mine and would do anything to have them back, I'unno.
It just really resonated with me. [ A beat. ] Now, he can't get rid of me.
video;
Great! This is exactly the kind of background I need. Everyone seems to treat 'em like boogeymen, but I need people with positive things to say about 'em, too. It would be way too easy to go the whole "oh, they're all bad" route and write the play that way, but I want people on their side to have their say. Keep things fair, you know?
video;
I think that's a good idea. I mean, I don't expect it to lean towards the gods being boogeymen but...
They're a lot more than that to me.

Just what sort of research are you doing...?

It's research! For my play. I need a variety of opinions to write it.

Okay. What makes you say that they've forgotten how to hope?
video
Desperation. [ He says succinctly ] Every action they have taken reeks of it, the frantic grasping of a drowning sailor for a life raft. Hope endures. Hope knows, the sun will rise tomorrow, even if you never see it yourself, and so can look forwards without flinching.
I cannot blame them for their fear - can anyone blame a drowning man for seizing upon any source of help? But I do pity them, yes, I think I do.

[He's tilted back in a chair, legs kicked up on a table and his arms crossed- yet the device seems to still be recording his face and upper torso, despite him not appearing to hold it.]
But they all suck, some just suck less than others.
Really? What's a lich?
[she notices and is curious about it, but doesn't feel like it would be okay to ask about it yet]
That's the usual review I'm getting. But which ones suck less than the others.

But I must say I quite enjoy Love's games.
The others aren't worth my time.

Gotta agree there, too. Love's harmless. The others seem like assholes.
