[The sound of a lightsaber is unmistakable. Anakin wields the weapon with ease, running through the techniques in rapid succession. He keeps at it until he is noticeably fatigued. Then he speaks:]

If someone told you that there is a force that connects all things, would you believe them? Do you think there is a higher purpose to this world? Or are some of us stuck here until we lose our minds?

[Is insanity a higher purpose?]

I sometimes wonder if all of this is an exercise in patience. [A quality he lacks. Has always lacked.]

[ Of course Anakin and Curufin can always spar with a pair of razor-sharp, deadly Elvish swords! I seem to recall that Curufin was making one for Anakin -- can we say that he finished it and delivered it? ]

[ Curufin nods. ] I had guessed as much. You have such an aura of Chaos about you, it doesn't surprise me that you are at odds with the Jedi. I understand.

How would you stop death? And to what end? [ Not that he disrespects Anakin either for having served the Dark Side or for wanting to halt something that may not be stoppable. In their different universes, they fought similar battles and with similar passion. ]

[ Small laugh. ] I often feel the same way. But is there something in particular that makes you want to explode? Does it have anything to do with Hadriel, or is it simply about you and your destiny?

[There is a hint of gold in his blue eyes.]

These...gods...play with our emotions. Mine are...dangerous anyway. They are directly connected to my powers. I'm afraid that one day I won't be able to be...me.

Ah, yes, I remember you have spoken of your wife before. And you think that you may be able to save her? Do you have any idea what is that something else that happens? Are you speaking from foresight, from some kind of prophetic vision?

[ Oh yes, the hint of gold fire, a sign of the dangerous power within. It is both Anakin's strength and his peril. Curufin well understands that. ]
