Video 7 - Sewing Shop
[the video opens on Margaery in the Sewing Shop, dressed of course to impress and show off her work. what is unusual is that she's holding a sword in her lap and that the Shop looks like it's been scrubbed from ceiling to floor and everything in between.
what may also be unusal to those who can notice such things, there have been magical wards placed around the Shop to deter violence and keep certain types of beings out.
Margaery smiles welcomingly at the camera, although those who know her well enough can tell that it's a little forced]
Hello, everyone! The Sewing Shop is open again to attend to your needs. Can you not find what you're looking for in the shops? Or are you just plain sick of wearing the same things day in, day out? Come in and request whatever you need. The only payment I require is a bolt of fabric from Tranquility.
I also give sewing lessons to those who wish to learn.
[to Washington and Kelson]
I have what you requested ready for you to pick up at any time. I hope to see you soon.

Re: Video (private)
[if he'd asked Margaery while she was in Westeros if she'd ever carry or be trained in swordfighting, she would have laughed. such a thing would have been unheard of. here, she's had to adapt]
Such as a dagger?
[but it's too hot to wear more clothing!]
Re: Video (private)
[Sorry Margaery, someone had to play devil's advocate, and he wanted to make sure she knew just what she was carrying around. Was killing a Null the same thing as killing a person?]
Yes, a dagger, stiletto, something small.
[Thats what fans were for Margaery.]
Re: Video (private)
[no, killing a Null is not the same as killing a human. but she wouldn't kill a human in the first place, not unless they left her no choice
or were Cersei Lannister]I don't have any training with those weapons.
[and strategic cuts in clothing]
Re: Video (private)
Are you prepared to kill, Margaery? And despite your best intentions, sometimes disabling or wounding doesn't always work. Or people move, things happen very quickly in battle.
As for the dagger, I can teach you.
[Yes, it was hot. But there was a reason Kelson wore long sleeves. Namely, his hidden wrist sheath.]
Re: Video (private)
You would? You would have my gratitude.
[in the wake of her murder, she's very much interested in any and all means of self-defense]
Re: Video (private)
I'd rather have you not needing to carry a weapon, but lacking a constant body guard I suppose this is one option. I should warn you, I've never actually taught anyone before.
Video (private)
unless they're Cersei or Caedrabut she will if she has to. and even then, she'd likely try to talk them down first]I'd rather I not need to carry a weapon, but we don't always get what we ask for. In truth, we rarely do. And I have every confidence in your ability to train me properly.
Re: Video (private)
[If Kelson had gotten what he wanted, his father would still be alive, Rothana would marry him, Sidana would still be alive, things would be very different. But some thing Kelson did not yet realize was that some times you were dealt the hand that was necessary.]
Your Highness....Margaery. I'd be lying if I didn't say you carrying a weapon concerned me. In Gwynedd, we're prepared from children for the responsibility and consequences that carrying a weapon brings. I don't know your world, but I trust you being noble born cannot have had the same instructions as your male counterparts would have. You killed a Null. Have you killed anything that bleeds, my lady?
Re: Video (private)
No, I had no sword training back home. It's virtually unheard of for a noblewoman to be trained as a warrior and I never questioned why. Perhaps I should have, but it's too late for that now.
I have killed many Null and survived the two week invasion in which many died. Not me. I survived every encounter and killed every Null I came upon.
I have never killed anything that bleeds, though. Not even a monster.
Re: Video (private)
[She should never have had to kill, as far as Kelson was concerned and it bothered him greatly that she had, and that she was training with weapons.]
I was always told that if you carry a weapon, you have to be prepared to use it. That means killing. Wounding or incapacitating someone is noble, but misguided.
Re: Video (private)
What if I choose not to take that role back? What if it no longer suits me? I made the decision to learn how to protect myself of my own free will.
[she would have been dead dozens of times over in the Null invasion if she hadn't learned how to wield a sword]
What must I do to convince you of my readiness? Kill a monster?
Re: Video (private)
I can't tell you what to do. I'm not your king or your husband and you are your own person. But what is wrong with the role that you were groomed for? That to me seems to be the difference between you and Brienne of Tarth. She was trained for it.
Re: Video (private)
What was wrong with it is that when it mattered most, none would listen to me. I knew we were in danger and we needed to escape the Sept, but I had no means of enforcing my will despite my status as Queen. And Brienne of Tarth may have had an earlier start, but my will to learn is strong.
Re: Video (private)
[Although her remark that she most likely cannot kill Caedra is interesting to him.]
Is enforcing your will at the end of sword really the way you want to do things? I admit, sometimes it is necessary, but not always.
Re: Video (private)
[Caedra is a demon while Margaery is still a mortal. the Elves were able to kill her, but they've been killing such beings for centuries]
No, it's not the only way I want to do things, but it must be an option available to me. None would bat an eyelash were I born a man, but because I'm a woman my decision for myself is questioned.
Re: Video (private)
No, no one would if you were a man, but you're not, my lady.
[Kelson took a breath, realizing he was not going to win this argument. At least right now.]
Please be careful. I would be honored to be by your side as protection, should you need it.
[He knew that probably wouldn't make her drop the sword, but he had to try. She should not be the one carrying such a weapon.]
Re: Video (private)
Here, things are different. Here, women can do as we please. And it pleases me to learn to defend myself.
[no, the more someone tells her no, the more she'll dig her heels in]
And I would be honored to accept your protection, should I need it.
[and she would be. she's still not putting down that sword, though]
Would you like to come over? Your clothing is ready.
Re: Video (private)
Very well. I'll be there shortly. And thank you.
[Kelson's going to take that as a small victory, even if it wasn't really one. Women. He didn't understand. Granted, he wasn't that accustomed to talking with women he didn't view as family, choosing instead to wave awkwardly and run away. Help him Margaery.]
Re: Video (private)
I'll look forward to it. And it was my pleasure.
[she'll be entirely willing to help him. she likes him and considers him intelligent, despite his odd resistance to her sword training]
Re: Video (private)
Kelson ends the video and makes his way to her shop, hoping she has at least put the sword down, and idly wondered how she wore it with her dress. He knocked and poked his head in the door.]
Margaery? May I come in?
Re: Video (private)
she's tied the sword to a belt around her waist]
Yes, of course you may! Please, sit. [she points to a chair in the corner of the room, near a dressing partition]
Action
He noted the belt keeping the sword in place and inwardly sighed. So much for hope. He went over to the chair she indicated, and sat, wondering when things were going to go downhill.]
Thank you.
[He couldn't help himself.]
Are you really going to walk around with that?
Action
Margaery goes over to fetch the clothing she's made for him. there are two crimson tunics and two pairs of trousers, one brown and the other black. she brings them back over to him and holds them out]
You're welcome. And here are the clothes you requested.
[best to try and make light of the situation]
Would you rather I run?
Re: Action
Very nice. Thank you. They look exquisitely made.
[He makes a face at her remark, knowing she's trying to lighten the mood, and appreciating it, even if he didn't appreciate the situation.]
Most definitely not.
[Kelson tried to work it out in his head. He wouldn't have a problem with Margaery using magic to defend herself, at all. But using a sword was different. It wasn't that it was any more or less dangerous. Was it the inherent nature of swordplay? He had, after all, never known any women who used one. Or were even permitted.]
You're bound to come up against opponents stronger than you.
[He was referring to men, but probably whatever monsters lurked around as well.]
Re: Action
Only the best for a king.
[she arches an eyebrow playfully at him]
Then I shall continue walking.
[Westeros has no magic, at least none that Margaery is aware of. but to Margaery, a sword is a necessity to keep herself safe here. its presence gives her comfort and its practice makes her feel brave and strong, not small and fearful. that's especially important in the aftermath of her murder. she feels that if she had her sword with her that day, perhaps it would've ended differently]
Most people don't actively challenge others to swordfights in the middle of the street.
[the monsters are no longer a concern now that Hope has driven them out of the city]
