Video 7 - Sewing Shop

[the video opens on Margaery in the Sewing Shop, dressed of course to impress and show off her work. what is unusual is that she's holding a sword in her lap and that the Shop looks like it's been scrubbed from ceiling to floor and everything in between.

what may also be unusal to those who can notice such things, there have been magical wards placed around the Shop to deter violence and keep certain types of beings out.

Margaery smiles welcomingly at the camera, although those who know her well enough can tell that it's a little forced]

Hello, everyone! The Sewing Shop is open again to attend to your needs. Can you not find what you're looking for in the shops? Or are you just plain sick of wearing the same things day in, day out? Come in and request whatever you need. The only payment I require is a bolt of fabric from Tranquility.

I also give sewing lessons to those who wish to learn.

Patience has never been one of my virtues.

[ He laughs softly ]

I think I have a slight advantage, in that area!

You would have to, wouldn't you! I can't imagine living a hundred years, much less a thousand or more.

[bythewaves]

It is what we are made for, as you are not!

[ He smiles ]

It was, in many ways, why no one was surprised when Elros chose mortality, except maybe Elrond, and even then, I think it was hard to truly surprise that one. He just didn't want to believe that his brother would leave him.

[roseofthetyrells]

No one ever wants to believe that their brother will leave them. I still miss Loras every day.

[bythewaves]

Even so.

[ He agrees wistfully ]

I do hope you get to see them here. Tis a cruel fate to have kin so abruptly parted.

[roseofthetyrells]

Yes. I told Loras to stay with me. I don't know why the Door took me and not both of us.

[bythewaves]

Who can tell? The Door will do as it will, I fear. But there remains yet hope for the future.

[roseofthetyrells]

Hope that Loras will join me someday. Somewhere he can love openly and without fear. [she laughs briefly] Though, he never showed much fear in loving even in Westeros. I warned him to be more. . . discreet, but he never listened.

[bythewaves]

Sometimes, folk are reckless for love - if he comes, you should ask him to speak to Fingon! Truly he earned his title of Valiant, and that deed he did for love.

[roseofthetyrells]

[enticingly] Now that sounds like it has a story behind it.

[bythewaves]

[ He smiles, but there's something a little sad about it ]

Oh yes! One of the great tales of our history, when Fingon the Valiant despite believing that his dearest friend had abandoned him to the horrors of the Ice, dared the very gates of Angband and the peaks of Thangorodrim, hoping to rescue him when he learnt of his capture by Morgoth. He went alone, telling none of his errand, and wandered lost beneath the poison fumes of the mountain. In despair then he sat down and wept, and taking up his harp he sang on it a song of his childhood long ago. But to his shock, he heard an answer, in a voice familiar as his own, drawn now with pain, and looking up he saw his friend, pinned to the side of the mountain by an iron shackle around his right wrist. Try though he might, Fingon could not reach him, and Maedhros begged him then to kill him, and although Fingon wept, he agreed, for he could not leave his friend there to suffer.

As he bent back the bow, he prayed to Manwe, lord of Winds, to speed his shaft truely, but in answer to his prayer came Thorondor, Lord of Eagles, instead. Thorondor carried Fingon to his cousin's side, but the manacle was forged by Morgoth himself, and no might of elves might break it. In despair then Maedhros bid him again slay him, but instead Fingon cut off his hand, and bore my brother back to us alive, beyond all hope.

[she listens, wide-eyed, to Maglor's tale]

...so many of your stories involve triumphing against terrible odds. So many of my world's stories are horrors.

[bythewaves]

My stories also take place over years, sometimes decades, or longer! [ He points out, amused ]

Well, not this one, although he was gone for weeks, and poor uncle Fingolfin was sure he had been killed.

But it is easier to see the light at the end, when one lives long enough to see the end.

[roseofthetyrells]

Decades! Yes, I suppose it would be easier to see a happy ending after decades have passed.

I would have liked to have seen Westeros' happy ending. Unfortunately, all I can do is give my well-wishes to those who will make it.

[bythewaves]

Centuries, in some cases.

[ He says softly ] But that is the courage of Men, I think. Very few of you ever live to see the dawn, but you hope for it, and strive for it, all the same.

[roseofthetyrells]

I suppose. I did what little I could during my time as Queen. I wanted to help Tommen grow into himself and throw off the yoke of his mother, but I never had the chance.

[bythewaves]

One never knows how one's actions might turn out - even the small things! But you should not blame yourself for things you cannot help.

[roseofthetyrells]

But there are so many things I couldn't help. And now I wish I could have.

[bythewaves]

All wish that. [ He says softly ]

But we cannot change the past - only the future.

[roseofthetyrells]

I suppose so, but. The Lannisters were horrible. We knew they were horrible, but we still kept the alliance.

In the future, I'll be wiser in my alliances.

[bythewaves]

Sometimes you must, and sometimes it backfires. [ He grimaces ] But it always pays to try and examine your alliances carefully, yes - at least you know that, now!

[roseofthetyrells]

[she gives a wry twist to her lips] Backfires. There's a word for it. Wildfire would be more appropriate. The only thing I can say for it is that at least it was quick. And I'll never think that such monsters can be bargained with or persuaded ever again.

[bythewaves]

I am grateful for your sake that it was! And we all would like to believe that people would not also be monsters, so I do not fault you for that wish.

We would like to believe it, but it is often not true. But now I know there are only three options when dealing with a monster. Defy it, resist it, . . . or kill it.
