I have a thing to ask; a thing that is not acceptable in my world, but it is part of my story and I think I must acknowledge it. I have noticed that other residents of Hadriel share half of my inclination, at least, and I must ask:

Is it possible for one man or woman to be attracted to both genders? I mean no offense. I admit that my first love - unrequited - was female. My wife was surely female! But there was a male...briefly...though he was naught but a monster seeking to ravage the world.

I was not married to him. I ignored my wife for a time while he enchanted me. I am to blame for her pain and her death, make no mistake. But Annatar turned out to be Sauron - one of my world's greatest foes.

You do not understand: I tried. There was a lady present, not long after I arrived, that I attempted to court. She rejected me. (Just as Artanis had done.)

There have been four I cared for - two rejected me, one betrayed me and the last I betrayed. Do you think my record good?

My father's record isn't stellar either, but he never stops trying.

He does not hail from a family that is hated for their madness and cruelty, though, does he? Maybe the madness is trying at all. Maybe Eru desires the Fëanorian line to end.

Oh, you do not know my father's family. That might be an apt description for them.

My father once tied someone to a tree and flayed them alive for thinking they were a better musician they he was. My grandfather has turned himself into so many different creatures in order to rape unsuspecting women.

You want madness and cruelty? I got a whole library of examples back home.

My grandfather, father and uncles have committed atrocities beyond counting. I will not reveal them in full because I believe their hearts have changed. Even so, they are cursed beyond redemption in my world.

I am the only heir and I abandoned them so that our people could have a chance at peace.

I hope they have changed, and that you are able to have a chance at peace. And love, whatever form it brings.

My family, can't change. Drastically at any rate. So do yourself a favor, and don't be held down by them. Just because things have always been done a certain way, or if you think this is a price for past sins. It's not.

BTW, whatever happens, don't turn yourself into a cloud or a cow or a dolphin or something to get someone. Totally not cool.
