[It feels like forever since he's made a network post, even though it's really only been about a month. But a lot has happened, and he's going to talk about absolutely none of it.

Instead, there are some pressing issues affecting everyone, and those are more important right now.]

Although this event is distracting, to put it mildly, it might help to focus on something else if possible. We know that we'll soon change locations, and since we have warning we can try to prepare; even if we don't know exactly where we're going to end up, making sure we have enough supplies, clothing, and that sort of thing will help, especially if things go unexpectedly.

[Like there's something wrong when they move, or the gods forgot to warn them about something, or the planet is different from how they remember, or any number of other reasons that might interrupt those in Hadriel's usual abilities to just go scavenge for what they might need.]

So those who are able to do so might consider preparing a little, as well as helping friends and acquaintances who might not be able to do because of the event. Even if you're not interested in looking for or stockpiling anything, those who haven't already should check in on those they know and make sure they're doing alright.

[ The step back is a clear enough invitation, and Pell steps inside with a smile of his own, making sure to scuff his shoes a little on the mat just in case he missed some garden dirt. Once Lance has closed the door he offers the bag he's holding to the man -- not the most elegant way to present things, but it's what he had. ]

Don't worry, I figured it out from your post. You nearly always use video.

[ He'll let Lance glance through the bag, continuing to speak just because he's not sure what the most polite thing to do in this situation is. ]

I wasn't sure what you'd like, so it's a bit of everything that was ready. The zucchini needs to be eaten quickly but the rest will keep quite awhile, especially if we don't lose power.

...if you'd rather avoid charades, I think I still have my telepathy. But most people here aren't comfortable with that.

[Lance takes the bag with a relieved, if slightly awkward, smile, glancing into it briefly in curiosity before leading the way toward the kitchen. He appreciates that Pell does indeed get it, although he's right about the issue of being uncomfortable with telepathy; he doesn't think he has any reason to worry about Pell using it, but the whole idea still bothers him.

So instead he sets the bag carefully on the table before pulling out his phone, typing a message and then just holding it out for Pell to read.]

[ It doesn't actually take mind reading to tell that yes, Lance is also uncomfortable with the concept. That's alright, he doesn't take it personally. He's had people force their way into his mind before. It was distinctly unpleasant to say the least, and since coming here has found that humans especially just aren't used to the feeling of another presence in their heads. Some are curious and he's always gentle, doesn't go digging, but would never use it without consent. He leans in to read the message Lance types instead, then nods a little. ]

How have you been, before this? We haven't spoken for awhile. And you never did set up a new office.

[At the affirmative he goes to find mugs, and that combined with his lack of voice gives him good opportunity to dodge the question with a small shrug. He doesn't want to go into explaining why he never reestablished at the Clinic, because it's both kind of complicated and he thinks it'll sound stupid anyway.

So instead he pours the tea and brings a mug back to offer to Pell, making a vague gesture at the table to indicate that Pell's welcome to sit down if he wants.]

[ He'll accept the mug and seat at the table with another small murmur of thanks, but not that dodge. It was a nice try, though, Lance. Unfortunately the little shrug makes it seem like there is actually something wrong. ]

That doesn't really look like an "I'm great, Pell, nothing to worry about here." Have you been safe, at least?

[He sighs quietly; it was too much to hope for that he could get away with it that easily. The question earns a nod, and he taps his fingers against the side of his mug for a moment before picking up his phone to type another message.]

I'm alright. There have just been a lot of things to deal with lately, but they're working out.

[It isn't really a lie either; some things are still kind of in stasis, but overall things have been improving for him.]

How have you been?

[ That, he'll take. Not without curiosity about what those 'lot of things' may have been, but he gets the feeling that even if Lance was comfortable talking about them it'd be a hassle to do so just typing his answers. So for now, he's not going to ask.

...of course, Lance turns the conversation around. Pell wraps both hands around the warm mug and stares into his tea for a moment, quiet. ]

I didn't come looking for a counseling session, you know.

[That earns another sigh and a quickly typed response--]

You asked first; I'm just doing the same.

[He's a little sensitive about this particular topic at the moment so the response is a bit shorter than usual, text aside.]

[ Whoops. This is slightly awkward now. He's just going to take a moment to figure out how to put it more accurately. ]

Right, well... if you're just being polite the truth is a bit heavy. And I don't know how easy it is for you to just listen, rather than feeling like you need to help. I wouldn't want to make you work right now.

[ But he did consider coming to Lance last month, and honestly it might feel better to get it out to someone who isn't biased one way or another. He's grateful to Jo and George, obviously, but also knows they'll always take his side. ]

You know Cal left? And Seel's still here. Let's just say I haven't been dealing particularly well with either of those things.

[Lance shakes his head at the comment about not wanting to make him work; they're talking as friends at the moment, and Lance can't actually talk anyway so there's only so helpful he can be.

But he can definitely listen, frowning a little in sympathy as Pell continues, and nods in understanding and as an indication to go on if he wants.]
