video;

[ It's been a little while now, since Floki arrived in this world. He's had a lot to deal with, emotionally when it comes to the Gods here. Believing that any interaction, involvement or acknowledgement of them is a direct insult to his Gods, the real Gods!

It's also taken him a while to get used to the communication devices. Floki is fluent in Runes, one of the lucky and knowledgeable Vikings that managed to teach himself how to communicate through them. Floki could read and write, understand and create tales through this means, yet the phone device he was given? This was all new and strange.

So, here he was. The first appearance over the network sat in what looked like a beautifully crafted, ornate wooden Viking boat. The head was of Fáfnir, the mythical Midgard Serpent. Floki slumped against he neck of the dragon, a smirk-like sneer pulled over his lips. He placed the phone on the side of the boat, freeing his hands so that he was able to pick up a rather large wooden statue he'd handcarved himself. ]

May the Alföðr himself, bless my boat.

[ Raising both arms to the sky, fingers twitching in random movements, a strange chirp of a giggle left his lips before he stroked the statue with one hand, a gesture of praise with his other, moved down his forehead before kissing the knuckle of his thumb. ]

The true Gods should be pleased to see someone still worships them. I shall be blessed a bountiful life so long as I reject these false deities... And you should all be wise too, turn your back on their lies, for Odin is forgiving of the ignorant and blind but not those who will turn their backs in blasphemy.

[ Turning his head aside, Floki spat at the ground as if he was so disgusted in what he was saying, disgusted that people here fell for the glamour these so-called Gods had them under. ]

Ah, yeah. My house is on that island. I'll be over soon enough.

[it'll take some walking, but he can blip between islands as easily as a thought. In no time at all he can probably be spotted by the big stupid hat strolling along toward the rocky shore]

[wow, actual patience? he could get used to this. Especially once he finds out that Floki has thrown his worship at his second-in-command...

Law strides up eagerly, a very long sword slung over his shoulder. These days he never travels unarmed, unless he plans to remain within teleporting-distance of the blade. He can see the ship before he even spots its maker, gray eyes alight with interest. Yes, dear god yes, it's real and it looks nice and solid.
]

Floki?

[no friendly epithets yet...still gotta get to know this guy]

[sizing him up in the same manner, a quick once-over with his eyes. Nothing too outrageous, he's seen worse.]

Not that I know of. It's a nodachi - a traditional long sword. [as tall as he is, it's still clearly a good five feet long hilt to tip, not including the handle.] Though, I've never really looked into the circumstances of its forging. It serves me well, that's all that matters.

[and then his eyes return to the ship] ...have you named it, yet?

[whoa that's...a hell of an invasion of his personal space. Oh well. Law should know by now he can't get away with just a distant nod of his head. Sure, fine, well met then, Floki.]

...not very triumphant, but I guess I can't argue with naming it after a family member. [he follows that up with a faint smirk] Who are you bringing grief to, this world or the other idiots in it?

That's not for me to choose. The maker and the captain are the only ones who can name a ship. Though... [with a bit of admiring for the majestic figurehead] ...Flying Dragon seems appropriate.

[he's not surprised by the obvious grudge against the gods, as mentioned earlier. And, really, Law can appreciate that, even if his methods are a lot more under the table.]

Then you and your talents will be well appreciated on a journey across the sea. I intend to uncover all their secrets, everything they can't and won't tell us themselves. Getting home requires learning how the Door works, and the key to that is somewhere in this world. If we take control of their little toy, we can get away and leave them behind.

[he tips his head slightly in a nod of concession. Fair point, and he has no reason to steal and rename this ship. Floki can keep it as it is.]

I'm certain of it. These four islands only hold the same city we were in before, and have been in. There's nothing new to be found here. That means taking to the sea, in search of that information.

[he steps closer to the ship, stretching out a hand and placing it on the solid wood of the raised bow] I have no doubt that a craft like this would survive just fine, but I'd feel much more confident about weathering storms and waves with a larger one. Two-masted, with enclosed cabins.

Yeah...you didn't know? [ah, that's right, newcomers. Look who gave no shits about the coliseum this month...] When I first came, it was inside a cave. Then moved to a desert. Essentially, in coming here the city has been split in four.

[he smirks a bit to himself at the assumption. Granted, below-decks is definitely a thing, particularly for him and his submarine, but on the kind of ship he's envisioning, that area is for cargo and losers.]

I don't think we have the means to make something truly below the surface. You've never seen a cabin above the main deck?

Luxury? Hardly. It's for safety and security. We don't know how far out we'll need to go or how long the journey will be, the ship needs to carry enough supplies to make it there and back. If you want to sit in the middle of the deck with rain and wind and snow in your face for three weeks at a time, be my guest, but I'd rather my crew didn't get sick and end up crying in bed the whole time instead of being able to stand on their feet and do their work.

[sternly, and confidently. Look he's been doing this for thirteen years, he knows a good ship design when he sees it. Even if he knows you can't catch cold from the rain, a cabin for sleeping and the galley goes a long way toward preventing illness in other ways.]

[well, he's no artist, but...]

Fine, then I will. And if it doesn't meet your standards I'll just find someone else.

[he would rather not work with Curufin but sometimes beggars can't be choosers. And he doesn't really believe this viking to be any different than himself, except maybe dumber. There's a reason longboats went out of fashion for every culture except giants.]
