[Aside from having a new--or maybe not new, but different--hat that may have suffered a little bedazzling, Connor looks pretty much the same as last time he spoke on the network. He has something somewhat less abstract to talk about this time, but it's even more serious.]

Although the Clinic is well-suited to the needs of many here, and that's a great accomplishment in this situation, it's unable to provide assistance to a portion of the population that needs non-standard medical treatment.

[Mostly, as far as he knows, that's a problem for individuals who might be mechanically-based, although he isn't ruling out that there might be other types of beings he doesn't know about who also can't be helped with standard medical treatment. So he's being general right now, trying to account for everyone, which also helps in keeping things vague as far as individual people and what they might need.]

Because worlds vary, finding those with the skills they need to help these people might be difficult, but at the very least we can make sure those who can't go to the Clinic have the basic supplies necessary to take care of themselves. But again, because worlds vary, we won't know what all those supplies are unless we compile a list. I know there's an option on these phones to hold private conversations, if anyone may be concerned about giving specifics information about themselves, so supplies on the list can be added mostly anonymously.

[With any luck that means he can add some things to the list himself and no one will know who they're for. He'd like to avoid ending up in a situation in which he bleeds to death from an otherwise treatable injury just because there's no thirium available here.]

Additionally, since necessary items are likely to require making arrangements with the gods, if anyone is willing to help with that please let me know.

[ Well this is an interesting post, Connor. And relevant to Drake's interests in several ways. So of course he answers as soon as he sees it... he's at home, and the wall behind him is a painted mural. A distant galaxy, swirling colors on a black background.

He doesn't bother locking the conversation because it's not exactly a secret he does this for people, but won't be discussing details publicly. ]

I've made deals on other people's behalf before, and am willing to do it again. Usually the prices for necessary-to-life items aren't too steep because it's still less power than Hope would spend resurrecting people.

[The mural is pretty, and Connor's briefly entranced by it; he's seen pictures of outer space, of course, and he's seen a few pieces of art in person and has a ridiculous amount of information on classic paintings and the like stored away in his databases, but it's different seeing art now that he's deviant. The subject matter itself is particularly attention-grabbing too, at least for him, and he has to kind of mentally shake himself out of admiring it in order to refocus on what he's doing.

But this suddenly explains why humans are so fascinated by art. The emotional part of it is important.

Emotions are also what causes Connor to have to carefully control himself so as not to say what immediately comes to mind at Drake's offer; nothing against Drake at all, of course, but at the cost not being high for necessary items because that ends up being more convenient for Hope. Because of course, that's all that matters, and he feels a brief flare of anger once again at the situation; even CyberLife had handled repairs for him, because sure he'd been nothing more than an extremely expensive and fancy toy but CyberLife still didn't expect him to somehow pay for his own repairs.

Not that CyberLife deserves any credit or anything, but it's amazing that anyone can be worse than them.

Still, absolutely none of that is any help to the situation at hand, and so Connor tries to refocus again on the matter at hand. At least humans are prone to their weird fits of emotion for no reason, so hopefully it won't look too suspicious that it takes him a moment to respond.]

( It's not Connor's fault she didn't reply sooner. Since the illusion - or whatever it was - wore off, she's not exactly been in the right place to check her phone. She did it once, scrolled into the reminder that Henry was gone, and tossed her phone hard enough to crack the screen.

In all honesty, Kate hasn't even thought about the clinic since that day, since finding out Henry is gone and Carlisle is in states far worse than before. Other things have taken priority.

Like the frequent hangovers.

Thank you; if we end up with any surplus I'll keep that in mind, but I'm concerned about storing supplies at the Clinic if, for example, repairs must be done and only Alphys is available to do them.

[And she's at the Lab, so supplies may need to be kept there. Of course, he's not super enthused about the Lab being the centralized place for that sort of thing anyway, for various reasons, so it's a whole work in progress and the Clinic might end up the right place to be after all. It probably would be for any other special cases that might exist here, at least.]

[ The shifting emotions in Connor's expression seem like an awful lot. Drake is attuned to changes far more subtle than this, and of course notices the pause. What's going on in that head of yours, buddy? It can't just be distaste that the gods make them deal for things. ]

It depends on the urgency, and which god you ask. If no one's currently in danger and this is a stockpile... I'm not sure what the standing price is for medical supplies, but it'd probably be comparable. You could ask the clinic what they're charged. I've only asked for things people needed immediately, and got told to inspire a specific emotion in other people or perform an act of whatever.

[ He tilts his head, then, considering locking this to ask something but deciding to give it another moment. ]

Some gods are more sympathetic than others, but whoever your volunteers go to? Make sure they know exactly what they're asking for. The description is everything.

[There are way too many things going on in his head, okay, it's ridiculous.

He's also not too impressed with that answer, again because of the gods rather than Drake, but this time he's less restrained in giving a slightly scathing response; hopefully it's apparent that it's at the situation rather than Drake, though.]

I'd rather not have to worry about bartering while someone is at risk of dying, so yes, it's more about stockpiling.

[The very idea that oh, the gods would require less of a price if it was demonstrated that someone needs the help right then, is infuriating. Connor is also realizing that perhaps this is going to be an angry day, and so he takes another moment to try to control that before continuing.]

I'll speak with Kate about previous deals, thank you. And got it; I'll be sure to ask for very specific details from anyone who may need supplies.

[He can fortunately give a lot of details about thirium, and if he needs a biocomponent in the future hopefully the gods could just copy one he already has, but he definitely doesn't want to have to do guesswork in requesting something for someone else.]

[ Drake doesn't rise to Connor's ire, since he's pretty sure it's not directed at him just for explaining how things work. If it's at the gods he shares it, but he's... angrier at them right now than usual, honestly. His reply is perhaps a little drier than it might normally be. ]

Yeah, I know what that's like. Not just from here -- remind me never to discuss the healthcare situation in my world, you'd just get more pissed.

[ He rakes his free hand through his hair, looking tired for a moment... then there's a soft beep as the feed switches to private after all. ]

Are you holding up alright, Connor?

[Great, Connor, excellent job being so obviously worrying. Get a grip and calm down.]

[It's surely very convincing, so moving on quickly--]

Were you here for what happened last week?

[ Oh, no, Drake was here. His expression doesn't really falter, but that's only because he has an impeccable poker face. Inside, the anger rises. ]

Yeah... I was. [ And then, because he knows he seems pretty calm but Connor might find it easier to open up if he didn't, some honesty. ] It didn't go great for me, actually.

[Jo knows of a few cases like this in the city. She won't share that, but...]

I know some of the clinic workers are trying to learn about the differences. [Still.]

If supplies are needed, Hope usually provides them. Non-standard skills aren't a promise though.

[Bandages don't do much good when he's leaking coolant, unfortunately.]

Thankfully, there are a couple of folks in town who don't mind doing my repairs. Would be good to know if there are any others, though.

I can talk to Sorrow for you, see if he can't provide some stuff you might be looking for.

He's usually the easiest one for me to work with whereas a lot of people avoid him, so. I'd like to help where I can.

It is kind of you to seek to attend to the needs of those with constitutions not covered by the likes of conventional medicine, Mr. Connor.

[Connor wasn't actually bothered too much by the event; it was inconvenient and he disliked being separated from the few people he actually cares about here, but it didn't have a strong emotional impact on him.

But he still feels some genuine sympathy at Drake's admission, because he can imagine how the event might've been worse for some people.]

I've heard that even if the gods can provide an item, it requires some sort of payment.

[He might feel slightly guilty about Rose having to deal with Sorrow, but she did volunteer and he remembers what she said about feeling sympathetic toward the gods, so he'll just trust that she's not putting herself out or anything.]

I'd wanted to talk to you about the replanting efforts that are being organized. I'd like to help by testing the soil, but that should be done before there are people everywhere.

[So basically please let him know in advance when would be best for that, so he can help in the only way he'd be really useful in.]

I'd be willing to make a deal with Hope, Tranquility, or Love. They probably wouldn't ask for anything too terrible.

I'm aware that not everyone is human. I thought you meant they were trying to learn something in specific.

I don't see how forcing people to do them favors just to get basic medical supplies is considered fair, particularly when it's their fault we're here to begin with.
