Thank you for retrieving the fragments of the Door. It seems that the rogue Null's information was somewhat accurate after all- though judging by some of the encounters with Null scouts, I believe it would be irresponsible to rule out any attempt at foul play on its behalf.
With the new fragments, I can experiment with making the Door more complete and responsive to complex tasks. As it is now, the monthly fluctuations are very chaotic and noisy- they bring in various people from different worlds, but also monsters, objects... and it releases a massive energy signature, which is why we have needed to relocate constantly since activating it.
My goal is to not only reduce these energy fluctuations, but also give me more control over the Door- who it brings in, what it brings in, and... yes, eventually finding a way to send all of you home or to a neutral place when this is over. With any luck, I can put in a failsafe, so that if we become overrun with no hope of survival, then I can send all of you away in a moment.
Finally, I may be able to use the Door to move the city instead of relying on Fear's power- this way, we can avoid any incomplete transfers and be able to move the city without the Null, even if the Null are invading.
To accomplish all of this, I need the fragments that have been collected. You may leave them at my temple.

Do you know how, when you walk into one of our temples, you feel our chosen emotion?

It predates 'chosen emotion'.

We've altered ourselves over thousands of years, specialized, become more sentient and aware. We can't 'choose' our emotion any more than you can choose your own lineage.

What all do you know about said creature? What's it called? Is it sentient too?
What do you mean "resides within the Door"?

It causes disorganization, chaos, insanity in the minds nearby. It's quite easy to be lost to it.
I recommend keeping your distance.

That said don't you think itd be useful to have some witnesses at the very least? Even if it wouldnt benefit *you* much it would certainly improve relations between our two parties if you let us see this for ourselves.
I have experience working with alien creatures. Hostile alien creatures. A fresh set of eyes couldnt hurt right?
Like I dunno I could slap on a tinfoil hat or something if you're that worried. Lol.
But for real if I could experience the effects myself I might be able to figure out what causes it, and maybe how to prevent it.

I'm talking about the Door itself.
I'm familiar with things like it. Back home, we had an interdimensional portal that served as a gateway between our world and another. Difference is the Breach was a stable gateway that worked in conjunction with a DNA signature.
I've been inside the brains of the creatures that designed the thing. I know how it works.
Youre telling me that isn't useful? I'm stuck on fragment duty as a guinea pig?

Why aren't you pleased with what you have? Proximity to the Door- even its fragments- drives people to madness at an alarming speed. I'd rather not lose those of you who could be useful later on due to your insatiable curiosity about an artifact that you cannot manipulate.

Like hey maybe we go through all this trouble and learn nothing useful? That's a real possibility, I know. I know it's this unfathomable thing that we measly humans can't hope to understand or like whatever.
But do you know that for sure? Do you know DEFINITIVELY that my taking a look at the thing will lead to nothing?
Thing is, I think theres plenty to learn. Like what role do the fragments even play? How are you gonna add them back to the Door?? What do you mean by "experiments"?
Getting a glimpse of this stuff in action is worthwhile even if it comes at a cost yknow?
Like for once we wont just be taking your word for everything.
