[Noh-Varr is no stranger to interdimensional travel. Sure, most of the time that travel's been done with intent, but he's seen enough cosmic weirdness to know that you can't always control where you end up. He's spent the past couple of days exploring Hadriel and acclimating to the new locale, and it appears that he is, for now, here to stay.
Which means there's an important correction that needs to be made.]
There was a man I spoke with recently who suggested that my stay in this city would be a temporary one. It would seem that observation was incorrect.
[Just callin' it like it is, Newt.]
I am also now in possession of a phone that operates here, so if you still require assistance in locating your own phone, I can help.

Oh my god, don't even start with me, buddy. The vast majority of everyone else did get sent home, you'll notice. And did you actually remain in the city or did you leave and come back again two days ago like newbies are supposed to?
audio IM SO SORRY HES LIKE THIS
Ah, so you did eventually find your phone? I’m glad to hear this.
[Noh ... how did you expect Newt to hear your callout otherwise. Honestly.]
I don’t recall leaving this dimension, but I did wake up in a different location two days ago. You seemed like an authority on the subject when we spoke - I just thought you’d appreciate knowing that your conclusion was incorrect.

[Don't test him, guy!!]

Why would someone steal your phone only to return it later?
[More importantly - ]
I didn't think you were responsible for this Door contraption. If what I read is correct, no one here knows how to use it.
no subject
I don't know, but my bestiary was all messed up, too. And whoever took it was texting people pretending to be me. It was definitely stolen.
[Stop giving him shit he is a victim!!!]
Of course no one knows how to use it. Not even the gods know. Do you think any of us would still be here if we knew how to work the thing?

[THANKS, he just needs more information!]
audio
A handful of months, maybe? Don't worry, it's not like home is going anywhere; it'll be there, exactly as you left it, whenever the Door lets you go.
audio
[It’s a fact - one that humans have been all too keen to highlight.]
But you’re saying that is where and when the Door will return me?
audio
[ Kind of nonchalant. At this point, it's whatever for her. ]
audio
[He matches her tone of nonchalance; these are facts. As far as his friends ... they probably wouldn't miss him much. The Young Avengers were a tightly knit group before he joined them, and his usefulness in fighting Mother had largely been in transporting them in his ship, with firepower and fighting skill coming in second, though he was by no means the most powerful fighter of the team. Even among those he came to regard as friends, Noh was still an outsider, and keenly aware of that fact.]
You've been returned to your home and brought back here, then? You said you have personal experience.
audio
I did say that, yep. I went home, fucked around a bit without a damn memory of this shithole, and then was whisked back like fucking Dorothy to Oz. And some six months passed here.
Hey, you know that people from your home can show up here, too, right? Like... dead people. [ Just a heads up because didn't he say his family was dead. That's always a good thing to get a warning about even if it's unlikely. ]
audio
[Thanks to Mother, Noh’s already had a run-in with his dead parents ... kinda.]
How long have you been kept here in total?
audio
Uh, fuck, two and a half years? Maybe a little over. [ Give a couple of weeks or months, it's not exactly something she enjoys keeping track of (except she's kind of like that old person who existed for so long she's yelling about how things were 'back in her day'). ] Don't worry, it's not super common to be around that long, though we've got a pretty chunk of people who've been here over a year now.
[ SO MAYBE YOU WILL BE TOO. So much for 'don't worry'. ]
audio
And has no one studied the patterns of arrivals and departures for any patterns?
audio
audio
[Surprise - Noh happens to be one of those nerd types himself.]
Thank you for your help. I appreciate the information you’ve given me.
audio
And yeah, no problem. I'm Little Miss Helpful.

[Audio]
Are there any common characteristics among those who stay and those who leave?

[Audio]
[Hearing that people have been stuck here for years? That's less of a relief.]
Do you know where I would be able to find this person to speak with her?
[Audio]
[Audio]
Thank you. You’ve been extremely helpful.
[Audio]
[On occasion, at least. Usually he just doesn't put in the effort.] Good luck.
Voice
You were here before? Did you wake up in the arena?
voice
[Newt was super helpful.]
I was here briefly, but without a phone. I woke up in the arena this time, but I didn't the first time.
voice
Sometimes things don't work normally.

If you keep that in mind, you might not hate it as much here.

Some people really like it. Others don't. We're not all the same.

It's not awful here sometimes.

I'm definitely human.
no subject
Hmm. I thought so.
no subject
What's wrong with being human?
no subject
[Noh ... did you really just.]
no subject
At least we know an asshole when we see one.
no subject
I'd certainly hope so. Sight is one of your basic senses.
no subject
Yeah. Speaking of, I gotta go look at something other than the wall here. Good luck adjusting.
