[What's this, an actual video post from Rey?!
[Psyche. It's actually just the outside of the Speakeasy. Except that it's lit up. With actual lights. As in lights with electricity. Wow.]
"Got heat and power here for anyone trying to stay warm. We'll be limited on provisions and liquor for the time being, so we'd appreciate it if you don't stuff your face with all our shit.
"Working on the grid to get electricity sent to other parts of the city as well, so don't fuck with the windmills. Won't be much, but it'll be better than sitting in the dark, and who the hell knows how long we'll be on our own."
[It's a dreary thought she doesn't intend to linger on for very long. The feed then cuts out, and we're back to hearing Rey's usual terse voice over the audio line.]
"Will be making frequent trips, hunting and foraging for whatever's out there and getting a lay of the land. Saw what seems to be native wildlife, plus whatever Door creatures are left. Any fur and meat will be available at the Speakeasy as well."
[Because for someone who loves food as much as Rey does, she is one of the few who can last for prolonged periods on minimum to no sustenance at all. Until she's figured out how finite their resources are going to be, she intends to keep it that way.]
[ooc: A little more info here and here about the windmill and the setup at the Speakeasy!]

[And comments like that are one reason Carlisle has so few friends.]

[por que no los dos, Carlisle?]

Just promise you will call me should you need me, even if you are some distance away. Or not even promise, but give me the slightest reassurance that you will, if only to put my mind at ease. Or need I remind you that there are people in this place -- other than me -- who care for your well-being?

Promise. [It doesn't even come as a second thought, since it's not like Rey is going out to actively try and get herself hurt or killed. Most of the time.] Haven't died once since coming here, if that puts your mind any more at ease. Been through all that shit but still haven't snuffed it.
[Although she came close to it a few times, what she doesn't take for granted is the fact that she has people looking out for her and those with resources to keep her vertical. That's not a bad thing.]

That... does, actually. Put my mind at ease. There are others here, who- well, it's not that their hearts are not in the right place, of course, but- but what if the false gods leave them dead? Or decide it best to send them away rather than to revive them? They take what they are offered for granted, thinking it nobler to sacrifice themselves for their cause, not considering what their potential end could do to those left behind. It...
[He trails off, trying to parse out an argument with himself.]
It vexes me.

Have always considered that possibility as well, honestly. Or if anything happens to Hope, the one guy who can bring people back from the dead, then dying isn't going to be something everyone can just shrug off like it's nothing anymore. Worse yet, that makes him a high priority target for the Null. If they'd succeeded in their assassination attempt with Delight... [Huff.]
Well, it pisses me off, too.
But Hope isn't going to let anyone stay dead. It goes against what he is.

One would think Delight attempting to murder her brethren would go against what she is, as well, and yet it happened.

Mn. Fair point. The assumption that none of them would turn against one another was what got them into that mess in the first place.
[And Sorrow killed, but Carlisle probably doesn't care about that.]
no subject
Why did they assume that? Did they expect solidarity from their own kind? That they were impervious to betrayal?
no subject
Bit of both, probably. Can't blame them for not wanting to see that as a possibility, but they were still dumbasses not to at least look into it.

[An audible sigh.]
I do not trust them, nor do I trust the constructs that would bring about their destruction, nor do I trust most imprisoned here, but were we to end up trapped on one of these planets, I prefer this to the jungle.
