I've made some relevant updates to the bestiary now that we're on a planet with local fauna.
[So here's an attachment with the updated version!]
At the moment, I've only heard tell of the mammoth things roaming around out there. All current notes are either based on secondhand accounts or pictures that have been sent to me. I'd like some real specimens to take a look at, if anyone's game.
Apparently there's other critters too, though they seem to be rare as I haven't encountered any myself. If anyone runs into anything alive on this planet, let me know and I'll add it.
Thanks.

Jeez, Hayden, just teleport to the lab! Are you bleeding?

[...]
I can do that!
[Hello, here's Hayden, delivered in five seconds or less. Actually, the cold appears to have made him a bit more sluggish, it's more of a scrambled crawl from the nether instead of the usual shocking slam into center stage. He's...he's definitely not bleeding as he huddles in on himself, his already sickly pallor an even more concerning shade from the cold.]
Pricklers...
[He sticks out a shivering arm. It's...it's covered in what ye savvy humans would call gooseflesh.]
no subject
Um. Is that... Does it hurt...?
[Surely Hayden is not just losing his mind over being chilly.]
no subject
I don't feel anything, anything! It injected me with a numbing poison and then I'll die or be eated or both!
no subject
No, you weren't—I don't think a creature did this. It's just what happens when you get cold. Here.
[He rubs his hands over Hayden's arm to warm up his skin. It takes a minute since it's not like Newt has the warmest hands in the world with this weather, but eventually the body heat transfers.]
See? That feel better?
no subject
Have you become one of the magic men?
no subject
I've always been one of the magic men. Come here.
[He guides Hayden into the break room, where there's a spare blanket folded over the back of the couch. Newt grabs it and throws it around Hayden's shoulder, bundling the kid up. He rubs his hands over Hayden's arms. Be warm, kiddo.]
Why are you running around out there without a coat on? It's freezing, dude.
no subject
Sometimes...sometimes I forget where my thoughts are, and then I am doing a thing suddenly? I don't remember.
[He's never, like, explicitly needed to worry about temperature before. Not cold temperature, at least.]
no subject
Yeah, well, get a coat, or at least something with sleeves. Layers will help you stay warm, but you definitely don't want any exposed skin if you can help it. You can get frostbite if your skin gets too cold.
[He'll realize in a second that he probably should've phrased that more gently.]
no subject
[The monsters are all around us! He's effectively bypassed every other part of the statements directed on him, his shivering now just as much nervous as from the cold.]
I don't want it to bite me I want it to be my friend like Chimney and Beep Beep are also my friends!
no subject
Oh my god, no, calm down, dude. It's not what it sounds like.
[He holds Hayden tighter to prevent him from zipping off and undoubtedly getting into more trouble.]
Just—okay, so you know how it burns when you touch Chimney and Beeps without those big gloves? Because they're too hot? When things are too cold, they can burn you too, and the wind here is cold. All you need is gloves and clothes and stuff to put between you and the wind.
no subject
Hot...hot burns and cold...cold also...cold also burns...
[You can practically hear the rusted gears grinding to a painful halt.]
Fire wind?
no subject
[Or. Something.]
So just cover yourself up when you're outside, okay?
no subject
[And so begins Hayden's adventure in rolling himself around town in Literally All of His Bedding. These Charlie Days have their hands full, that's for sure.]
no subject
Good.
[...]
You have warmer clothes, right?
no subject
[Does he have them? Well, he didn't answer the question. Hm.]
I want to learn to make...to...the do the, with the...
[There seems to be a word he's forgetting. Hayden scrunches up his face, pressing his blanket-swaddled hands up to his face.]
Nevermind! I had a big goodbye to the thing that I was thinking!
no subject
Uh, right. So... You do have warmer clothes? Like a coat, or something? At least?
