I've made some relevant updates to the bestiary now that we're on a planet with local fauna.

[So here's an attachment with the updated version!]

At the moment, I've only heard tell of the mammoth things roaming around out there. All current notes are either based on secondhand accounts or pictures that have been sent to me. I'd like some real specimens to take a look at, if anyone's game.

Apparently there's other critters too, though they seem to be rare as I haven't encountered any myself. If anyone runs into anything alive on this planet, let me know and I'll add it.

Impressive list, though I have to disagree about the nurses. The wendigo were way fucking worse. [ Like she's got anything to really add. Sorry, Newt. ]

Oh I guess I should update that. Ogres are now at the top of my crappy monsters list.
What was so bad about the wendigos? Those guys were before my time.

My best friend turned into one. The Door brought in... I don't know, fucking spirits, I guess? [ Back then she'd assumed it was solely the gods doing but her view points have adjusted slightly since then. ] At the same time, Rage and Fear decided to stock some human meat in the stores without some nice labels or anything. These spirits liked people that ate meat. Took them over. Changed them. Painfully.

When it was all done, they looked like mummies, limbs too long and bones jutting out. They couldn't see but they were fast and relentless, stronger than something that fucking frail looking should be. Most of us back then went vegan after.

[ She's not so much any more but she's much more careful about any meat she eats and prefers to stick with fruits and veggies (or poptarts) ]

Idk they look like mammoths to me. Big shaggy pachyderms from the ice age? It's close enough.

Well flying further out I haven't encountered anything besides those ugly beasts so far. But I haven't gone too, it is rather draining to do so.

Apparently there are things living in that lake however. But don't expect me to go diving down there to get you any samples without some payment. I've had enough walking at the bottom of an ocean to last me awhile.

[ He did actually have to walk the bottom of the ocean in Antarctica. So he does have experience with this. ]

Yeah I have two. They started to hibernate but then I moved them to the lab. We have heat there.
I think they wouldve been fine but I didn't want to risk it. My rust monsters already died.

[Semiyon doesn't really say hello this time, more than he just suddenly appears behind Newt at the lab, looking like a starved bear due to being tall, lanky, and bundled in a fur coat now heavily frosted over. His glasses are fogged from coming out of cold into warm air and even his beard has ice flecks in it.]

[Newt's reclined in his desk chair with his feet propped up on his workstation, and he almost topples over when suddenly Semiyon barges in.]

Oh my god, dude, you are like way too sneaky considering how ancient you are.

[He says it with love, mostly.]

If you mean the salamanders, they're fine. See?

[He swivels just enough to slip his boot under a sheet he has draped over his dissection table, as it's inactive for the time being. He pulls it up to reveal the salamanders snoozing peacefully in their portable carrier. Mutavore the ibisnake uncoils at the influx of light and chirps at the men.]

We've got heat, if you haven't noticed.

[He waves a hand at the little rig Alphys has set up near her desk.]

[There's a clatter as Newt drops the phone because, foolishly, he wasn't expecting Hayden to be yelling at him full volume.]

Oh my god—wait, uh, invisible monster?

[His voice is distant and a bit muffled as he rummages around under his desk looking for the phone. After a moment, aha! Got it!]
