[Hello, Hadriel. How are you all settling in? Good? Shit-ily? Barely? Fantastic. There's a man appearing in video now, armored, as he refuses to take it off now that it's pretty damn cold. His brows furrow as he tries to figure out how to word his question, scratching the back of his head with the hand not holding up this painfully outdated device so help him-]
...So, hi. I'm Scott Ryder, new here. [Everyone gets a small wave.] Question; anyone know about thermal clips and where I might be able to get my hands on some, if it's even possible? I think I know the answer to this question but I'm asking anyway. Until then I'll refrain from shooting up anything. [THAT'S A JOKE.]
[He doesn't necessarily need to rely on his guns but like hell it wouldn't be useful to not run out of ammo and be forced to use his biotics, or sword. He likes to think they all work in some kind of harmony that keeps him from getting slaughtered.]
Completely unrelated — or somewhat related, I don't know — hunting or scavenging. I'm free to help with either of those if anyone needs it. Whether you want a partner or you can't go yourself, whichever. Just so long as you don't send me on a suicide run. Those aren't as fun as they sound.
[He looks like he might say something else, but in reality he just doesn't know how to end this, so he simply shrugs and shuts off the feed. He's still very bad at this...]

I assume we'd be hunting the mammoths?

[With biotics he's kind of thinking of hunting from a different perspective, whoops.]
Uhhh...maybe hold off on that. Not exactly looking forward to pissing those guys off. Especially with them lingering so close to us.

Plus, monsters.
[He probably wasn't going to go all out hunting anyway, but mostly keeping an ear out if anyone needed anything for whatever reason; animal parts, random shit that might be found out there, etc.]

There always have to be monsters.
[she's curious about the lands outside of town, but her armor is ill-suited for this kind of climate. and she hasn't thought to go to the shops and put a sweater over it yet]
no subject
[Yeah he kind of remembers her armor and low-key wonders if she got anything at all that might be a little warmer.]

[she hasn't. she'd gotten so used to going without during the year of the Blight, it's just now occurred to her to try the shops]

[because she has nothing to do right now and when she has nothing to do, she tends to dwell on dark thoughts and worries]

What's the rush?
[It's asked in a friendly, half joking tone, at least.]

I--I don't know. I thought. Perhaps it's best to--to know more about where we've been sent. Sooner rather than later?
[in the moment, she seems every inch the sixteen year old girl and not the battle-tested Grey Warden that was already becoming legendary throughout Ferelden and likely all of Thedas]

Fair point. [Maybe she'll calm down if he concedes.] I'll get my stuff ready. Let me know when you've found something?
(cw: mental illness)
Thank you. [she nods, trying to project calm] I will. I'll head over to the shops now.
