...So, hi. I'm Scott Ryder, new here. [Everyone gets a small wave.] Question; anyone know about thermal clips and where I might be able to get my hands on some, if it's even possible? I think I know the answer to this question but I'm asking anyway. Until then I'll refrain from shooting up anything. [THAT'S A JOKE.]

[He doesn't necessarily need to rely on his guns but like hell it wouldn't be useful to not run out of ammo and be forced to use his biotics, or sword. He likes to think they all work in some kind of harmony that keeps him from getting slaughtered.]

Completely unrelated — or somewhat related, I don't know — hunting or scavenging. I'm free to help with either of those if anyone needs it. Whether you want a partner or you can't go yourself, whichever. Just so long as you don't send me on a suicide run. Those aren't as fun as they sound.

I could assist you with either, if you like? I'm not as skilled with the bow as I am with sword and dagger, but I can manage.

The more the merrier. You can always borrow my sword if you don't feel comfortable enough without one.

[Sure it's an alien sword from the future but at the end of the day it's sharp and handles nicely. He can just use his biotics and be careful about not overloading himself. It's not like he hasn't had to do it before.]

[she draws an impressive looking dragonbone sword from out of frame. it glistens with yellow runes from hilt to tip and seems to be radiating cold and ice. which is a bit superfluous here, but it served against the darkspawn nicely] I assumed that ranged weapons would be preferred in a hunting scenario] Thank you for your offer, though.

I assume we'd be hunting the mammoths?

Normally we bargain with Rage for anything resembling ammo. One monster corpse on her altar for one clip. Save up, I guess, for whenever the gods get back.

Yeah, maybe. But it's cold enough we can save the remnants of whatever wildlife we kill for food now, and if the Door opens again there'll be more monsters.

How are you looking? I know I don't have anything compatible, the closest thing in my world would probably be a plasma rifle and I don't carry one. But I've got a small stockpile of conventional ammo.

Looks like he'll be saving up then. At least he knows he won't have to worry about never having ammo ever again. At least, if these alien gods come back.]

I think I know what you mean by "conventional". [Thermal clips are the conventional where he's from, rip.] Not sure how well that'd work. But luckily right now I'm looking pretty decent. I haven't used much ammo since I first got here, and even then it was like, two shots. As long as no firefights break out I should be okay. Thank you, though.

I just mean bullets. I've got a couple different guns, so I've shared my stash before if someone's takes the same size. Sounds like you'll just have to wait, though.

[ He tilts his head curiously, wondering what Scott's going to hunt with if not his gun. He doesn't remember the other man carrying anything noticeable, but that doesn't mean it wasn't on him somewhere. ]

Technically, I was clinically dead for a few seconds. But I think that makes me a zombie instead of a ghost. Hey, if you're really a ghost and I'm a zombie we'd make a kick ass duo.

If you were dead, clinically or otherwise, I'd say you absolutely count as a zombie. We'd be the gruesome twosome. We'll terrify the city, and look good doing it.

That said, if you need any help on a run, let me know. I'm sure you can handle the monsters on your own, but sometimes a little assistance can be beneficial.

[Though it might not be best to explain to him. Ivar is a walking collection of weapons, he doesn't need to know about things with more destructive power than those of the ninth century.]

Thermal clips are ammunition for guns where I come from. Do you...know what a gun is?

[He's going to mentally prepare himself to explain anyway.]

[Gods help everyone if he gets interested in the weapon. That's all the psychopathic Viking needs: another weapon.]

Alright, well — you know what, I can just show you. [He reaches for something off screen, bringing his hand up to the feed holding a gun for him to see.] So this, you load a thermal clip into one of these bad boys, aim at whatever you want dead or injured, and pull this trigger. [Scott points where needed.] Then it fires off a round, which you wont see by the way, because it's so fast. You can fire off eight shots before you need to reload another thermal clip.

[Ivar pays rapt attention when shown the weapon. Though it may be different than the ones he's used to, the principles behind wielding it remain the same. It is not a toy and is meant to be taken seriously. If you pick one up, you've already decided to kill.]

And can anyone learn to use one of these weapons?

Wow, that's a useful skill to have here. I'm not completely sure about wood but I heard the lab has supplies and scraps. They gotta have a hammer, at least.

I'll keep an eye out for stuff that might be useful for weapon crafting. It's always good to have a decent stockpile of weapons when monsters and potentially hostile wildlife is a problem.
