[Hello, Hadriel. How are you all settling in? Good? Shit-ily? Barely? Fantastic. There's a man appearing in video now, armored, as he refuses to take it off now that it's pretty damn cold. His brows furrow as he tries to figure out how to word his question, scratching the back of his head with the hand not holding up this painfully outdated device so help him-]
...So, hi. I'm Scott Ryder, new here. [Everyone gets a small wave.] Question; anyone know about thermal clips and where I might be able to get my hands on some, if it's even possible? I think I know the answer to this question but I'm asking anyway. Until then I'll refrain from shooting up anything. [THAT'S A JOKE.]
[He doesn't necessarily need to rely on his guns but like hell it wouldn't be useful to not run out of ammo and be forced to use his biotics, or sword. He likes to think they all work in some kind of harmony that keeps him from getting slaughtered.]
Completely unrelated — or somewhat related, I don't know — hunting or scavenging. I'm free to help with either of those if anyone needs it. Whether you want a partner or you can't go yourself, whichever. Just so long as you don't send me on a suicide run. Those aren't as fun as they sound.
[He looks like he might say something else, but in reality he just doesn't know how to end this, so he simply shrugs and shuts off the feed. He's still very bad at this...]

Video
[Though it might not be best to explain to him. Ivar is a walking collection of weapons, he doesn't need to know about things with more destructive power than those of the ninth century.]
Video
Thermal clips are ammunition for guns where I come from. Do you...know what a gun is?
[He's going to mentally prepare himself to explain anyway.]

[Gods help everyone if he gets interested in the weapon. That's all the psychopathic Viking needs: another weapon.]

Alright, well — you know what, I can just show you. [He reaches for something off screen, bringing his hand up to the feed holding a gun for him to see.] So this, you load a thermal clip into one of these bad boys, aim at whatever you want dead or injured, and pull this trigger. [Scott points where needed.] Then it fires off a round, which you wont see by the way, because it's so fast. You can fire off eight shots before you need to reload another thermal clip.

And can anyone learn to use one of these weapons?
[Look at the eagerness in his eyes. Ivar's always been good at fighting once he learns how to use the weapons around him.]
no subject
[Scott can't help but think that Drack would appreciate this one's eagerness to learn about a new kind of weapon.]
Why, you interested?

[Ever tried using a bow and arrow from a sitting position? It's really hard. But Ivar had learned to compensate for his disability and had become quite a proficient shot with both his bow and throwing axe.]

[Besides, he was always excited at the prospect of exchanging knowledge with new and different species, so why should people from completely different universes be any less exciting? If anything it should be more exciting!]
I'm still sorting out the ammo thing, but it sounds like I won't be completely screwed. I can spare some to show you how to handle a gun.
[It's not like he's dangerously low or anything. A thermal clip or two should be enough for one lesson, at least.]

[Important question for someone who can't stand unaided. He's rather thankful this video function means he doesn't always immediate come off as the cripple everyone at home sees him as. His inferiority complex knows no bounds.]
no subject
[Huh. That takes him aback for a moment but it doesn't take a genius to figure out why he may be asking. Makes sense.]
Pretty easy, I'd say. Hell, I've been knocked on my ass and still managed to get a shot or two out. Sitting, crouching, on your back, on your stomach...as long as the gun isn't too heavy or big for you it should be fine.

[There was a big difference between learning how to use a bow standing up and sitting down.]

The ones I have should be fine. In fact, it's probably a good idea to learn how to fire from different positions. You never know how things could go in a fight.

[Ivar is going to be a good pupil. He takes weapons training very seriously.]

It's not like I have a busy schedule or anything, so whenever you have time is fine by me.
