His brows furrow as he tries to figure out how to word his question, scratching the back of his head with the hand not holding up this painfully outdated device so help him-]

...So, hi. I'm Scott Ryder, new here. [Everyone gets a small wave.] Question; anyone know about thermal clips and where I might be able to get my hands on some, if it's even possible? I think I know the answer to this question but I'm asking anyway. Until then I'll refrain from shooting up anything. [THAT'S A JOKE.]

[He doesn't necessarily need to rely on his guns but like hell it wouldn't be useful to not run out of ammo and be forced to use his biotics, or sword. He likes to think they all work in some kind of harmony that keeps him from getting slaughtered.]

Completely unrelated — or somewhat related, I don't know — hunting or scavenging. I'm free to help with either of those if anyone needs it. Whether you want a partner or you can't go yourself, whichever. Just so long as you don't send me on a suicide run. Those aren't as fun as they sound.

[He looks like he might say something else, but in reality he just doesn't know how to end this, so he simply shrugs and shuts off the feed. He's still very bad at this...]

Ah, pfft.

[He doesn't know how to respond to that level of flattery, so he resorts to making stupid sounds instead. The heleus cluster hasn't been kind to him so far, especially not the people in it. At least Hadriel has it one upped in that department. So far. He, of course, takes into account the fact that his luck is utter shit.]

I don't know if I'd call it "fighting". There were these...I don't know, monsters, when I first got here. But they could barely move let alone attack. Haven't gotten too close enough to the wild life yet either.

[Her question brings a point to his attention, though.]

...This is probably the longest I've gone without getting into some kind of skirmish, actually.

That's probably for the best! Hope it stays that way.

[ Ruby doesn't want anything bad to happen to anyone while they're down here. She nods once while closing her eyes. ]

I'd rather be bored and do nothing than experience something awful.

I hear that.

[It's a sentiment he can agree with. He may have set out for adventure but once thousands and thousands of people's lives were on the line he decided the quiet days were the best ones. That's no exception here, even if the scale isn't as big. Perhaps his whole way of thinking is childish as hell, but...well, he'd probably argue that.]

Just from what I've heard I bet the people here could use the break anyway.

It's been a bit rough around these parts, but hey! We have each other! That must count for something.

[ So she'll probably be pestering Scott again in the future. ]

I figure it could always be worse too.

[He's used to it, really, and he likely won't complain anyway.]

If there's anything I've learned just being alive is that it could always be worse. [He tries to tell himself every time things do get worse, but he wonders if the universe takes that as a challenge, honestly.] But that's a good attitude to have — if more people could realize we're all in this together I think that would help things by miles.

It sure helps me! I'd be bummed and upset if I was by myself....but I'm not. You're cool.

[ Scott is really nice and easy to talk to. Ruby appreciates that. ]

[Wow. Someone just called him cool. And now he's back to making weird awkward laughing noises because he's not sure what to do with that.]

Nah, my crew is still back home as far as I'm concerned. [God, he misses his sister. It's been sinking really hard lately.] That might be for the best. They could use a little break.

[He knows people are all frozen and shit back home but, joking helps.]

Oh, I hope it turns out okay for everyone.

[ Ruby shoulders slums and she frowns for a moment. ]

Can I ask what they're like? You got me curious.

So do I.

[Oh no, frowns aren't good. He tries to keep his own tone light despite the sudden...well he's not sure he can call it home sickness without a home, but close enough.]

Oh, the Tempest crew...they're a colorful bunch. They're like a weird little family of misfits, you know? They get into arguments about the dumbest things and sometimes make me want to tear my hair out but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I trust them.

[And they've only really just started.]

Do you have people like that where you come from?

Haha, they sound fun! Actually, I do have people like that too. There's my sister and uncle and friends.

I kinda miss them a bit. [ It's normal to feel homesick. ]

It's hard to be away from people you care about.

I hear that.

[Oh, but she mentions her sister and his smile softens.]

I think this is the longest I've ever been apart from my sister without any contact in between whatsoever. It's weird not having her around to lecture me.

I bet it seems awfully quiet. We all need someone to keep us company.

[ It's nice to talk about friends and family.]

Sucks to be alone.

[On that he can wholeheartedly agree. Being alone is probably his biggest fear, he'd say, which is why he can't be as upset as he should be about being stuck in Hadriel, since he's certainly not the only one.]

Hey, if things ever get too quiet for you I'm probably sitting around tearing my hair out from boredom.

[Okay, he's probably likely keeping busy somehow to keep that from happening but that's not his point. His point is, he's offering an open invitation to talk about whatever.]

Probably! I'll come visit you sometime then? We can hang out and do cool things.

[ She shoots scoot a thumbs up and a smile.]

We're gonna be so awesome together I can feel it.

[Well, isn't that a contagious attitude. Scott returns the thumbs up and smile.]
