Hmm...
[ It's not often that your resident Witcher comes asking for help on the network. Well, he's not exactly asking for help so to speak but he's definitely in a quandary.
Standing outside one of the spires, Roach behind him trying to graze from the earth below her feet. ]
Now, how do you get a horse up a flight of stairs?
[ Now that things seemed to have settled down and peoples belongings were no longer trying to kill everyone, Geralt thought it was high time he actually took up abode inside one of the buildings... Y'know, instead of roughing it as he had been. ]

[ Geralt looks up, squinting a little as he does so. ]
Maybe 6 or 7 floors, pretty steep from what I can see.
[ Geralt has big feet but he thinks he'd only be able to fit one of his boots fully on the length of the steps. ]
video
Is there any place nearby you could repurpose for a stable?
video
[ Geralt, despite his question, actually knows a great deal about a vast variety of animals and monsters. Still, he appreciated the idea of making some kind of stable. ]
I'm not so sure. I could ask the Gods, though, I don't like the idea of their version of equivalent and exchange. Don't s'pose you know anywhere suitable?
video
[Real charmers, the gods.]
The best choice for now might be an abandoned house near the spire you've chosen- the dimensions of the building might be odd, but at least it would be warm.
video
Huh... Y'know, that might not be such a bad idea. You know of any such abandoned houses? Getting kind of old, this whole roughing it outdoors thing I got going on.
video
About half of Delight's housing is still open. So are some of the wooden houses near the Springs, I think- but they would be less convenient. The city's small enough, but you could be separated if it ever splits again.
video
[ The conversation gets Geralt thinking. ]
Aren't many horses around here, are there? Not even any wild one huh?
[ It feels so strange. Of all the monsters and creatures that the door pulls in, it's never brought in any useful animals. ]
You know a lot about horses? You look like the kinda guy who does.
video
[He means it. He'd hate to see any animal out in the cold if the weather here gets any worse.]
One or two, I believe. A few hounds as well, though I think they arrived with their masters. Otherwise, the monsters and the native beasts are all I've seen.
[
And also the Old Kingdom 'animals', but he hasn't met those yet.]I do. My family was nearly all mad for horses; I've been riding since I was a child. I commanded a company of mounted archers for some years, as well.
[audio]
video;
Moving house. Don't really have the accommodation for Roach and the environments too hostile to leave her roaming loose. Why you got any better ideas? 'Cause I'm all ears.
audio;
[She huffs.] Mn, fair point.
Ground level would probably be easier to keep them, either way. Would give them a better chance to run if anything happens. Never dealt with horses before, but can't imagine it'd be safer for them to be trapped at an elevated level.
Not to mention you'd be dealing with all that shit and piss indoors. [And that's just... ew.]
video
Bet you could bribe it with some food.
video
Game glitches included!Geralt smiles a little, he actually was half joking when he asked this question but he's touched that someone was actually trying to help. ]Bet I could! But then what am I going to eat? Am I going to have to bribe her the whole time she's in my flat? Because that would get real old, real fast.
[ There's joking in his tone. If he really wanted to get Roach upstairs, he could probably use his Axii Spell to mind control the animal. But where's the fun in that!? ]
Okay then, what would you use, to bribe her?
video
Good point. Maybe something other than food?
[A pause and then the fingers stop drumming and dang, has she got the best idea???]
Oh! Chocobos come to a whistle, you know? You could always train her up a bit and teach her to come to a noise, then try again another day.

up isnt a problem but theyll get scared and stuck once theyre up there because they cant see the stairs to go down.
text;
I wasn't actually 100% intending on bringing my horse inside, more of a 'talking out loud on the network' kind of thing. Though it does raise the question as to where I can house Roach.
Re: text;
what kind of horse? its pretty damn cold out here. maybe a connemara pony would be fine outside but anything else i think youre gonna need a heater.
text;
She's a Destrier. Best mare I've ever owned. Keeping her warm isn't too much of an issue when she's with me leaving her outside alone, however, that would be a problem.

theres a few houses lying around empty. could turn them into a stable i guess.
no subject
Have to look for somewhere else to house her in the meantime. Got any suggestions?
no subject
which is weird because ive seen people with wolves and dogs and horses before. i have no idea where they keep them unless theyre camping out somewhere with them and somehow not freezing.
no subject
People keep wolves here? Can't imagine them getting that indoors either. Don't like the idea of asking the Gods for help with this one. Would much prefer finding a solution myself.
no subject
i wouldnt ask them for shit. even if they give it to you itll be fucked up and wrong. like the stall will be upside down or the heater will make nearby people go blind. something awful.
video
she opens her mouth to speak.
then closes it.
then finally sucks it up to speak]
...are you sure bringing your horse up a flight of stairs is a good idea?
video
[ Look, he's taking your advice, he's even looking at the Spire you told him to. Just, maybe he should have tried to find out if there was a horse-friendlier one first. ]
Doubt the neighbours would approve either, huh?
video
She probably wouldn't. I've heard of horses riding on hills and even mountains, but a flight of stairs?
[and he should move into it so she can visit as much as she pleases. which would be often]
I don't think so, but just between you and me? [she leans in closer and whispers] Some of them can be kinda stuffy.
video
[ Though, up a flight of stairs might be too much. Seems strange right?
Geralt smiles a little, amused by Tinya's antics, leaning in like the stuffy neighbours are actually listening. ]
Still, I'll check this place out though. What floors have empty places again?
video
[just a little strange, yes.
and she smiles back and stays leaning in, still speaking in a whisper]
301 is open and it has two bedrooms. You could get a roommate or use the other room for other stuff.
video
[ Geralt is still charmed by her little actions. ]
Hmm, think I'll pass on the roommate but a place with extra space does sound appealing.
[ Geralt pauses for a moment as he thinks. ]
Which floor do you live on?
video
[she's a good girl. or at least she tries to be. despite what her mother might have said or thought]
So, see? There you go! And you'll have to let me know as soon as you settle in so I can come and visit.
[she waits]
I'm on the seventh floor in the second apartment.
video
[ You'll have to forgive him, he doesn't understand what you mean. There aren't any aliens where he's from, in fact, the word simply means 'foreign' to Geralt, so excuse his confused expression. ]
Sure, why not.
[ See! He's loosening up around you! ]
I'll see which ones are close by?
video
[but religion died out on most planets centuries ago and she refuses to call them "gods." for one thing, they haven't earned the respect needed for such a title]
Okay, great! I'll bring something to eat. Do you like sweet things or savory things?
[he is! and she's very happy he is]
That sounds good.
video
Wouldn't the horse be happier outdoors?
video
[ There is a light air of joking in his tone. Don't worry, Geralt knows how stupid his question must have sounded. ]
Thing is, it's getting too cold to be camping at my horses' side. We need a warm, indoors place.
video
[she sounds serious, but don't mind her. she always sounds too serious for her own good]
There are still abandoned buildings. Perhaps one of those would suit your horse and you can find a place to live nearby.
video
Think that's gonna be my next move. Though it makes me wonder if it would be safe. There's a lot of monsters out there and pretty soon, even more, will be flooding in.
video
That is a problem, but the vast majority of the creatures brought in by the Door are killed not long after they enter. The nautilus creatures would be my largest concern, but they seem more interested in us than they are in anything else.
video
Still, I wouldn't put it past any kind of monster not to attack a rogue horse.
[ It also makes Geralt wonder, why exactly the Gods never try and stop the monsters coming through - and why no one has tried to cash in on exterminating them. ]
Am I the only person with an animal as big as a horse here?
video
Mmm. True. It's not as though horses are plentiful here.
[Mariane assumes that the fear and confusion the monsters cause in the newcomers are why the local gods don't try to stop them]
I'm not entirely sure? I haven't seen any. Of course that doesn't mean that they do not exist.
video
That's a shame, truly. Wonderful animals, smart, robust.
[ That's very true, however, Geralt gets a mix of emotions when killing monsters, joy, sorrow, rage. ]
I've found a lack of animals here strange. Can't blame me for wanting to keep mine close to me... Even if that does mean finding strange accommodation for them.
video
They are. I grew up with horses at Castle Cousland and I'd imagine I'll have the chance to have them again in Denerim.
[and she usually gets a feeling of accomplishment, of a necessary task done well]
I've found it strange, too. We have the mammoths as the main predators, but what do they eat? Surely they can't catch enough of those small rodents to sustain themselves. So one would think that a third kind of animal is out there somewhere.
no subject
[Why are you trying to put a horse in a tower, Geralt?]
Stable him with mine.
[We'll see how this goes, but this is what I assume Jon has been doing with his horse.]
no subject
[ He's asking himself the same question! ]
You have a stable?
[ Hopefully it works! If not, Geralt sees a building project in the near future. ]
video
[Which does seem like a rather silly question, but in this place, one never knows.]
Can find other places, not in the spires.
