[Maketh doesn't look well, but she's putting forth a solid effort. She's got her hair up and a coat slung over her shoulder, half buttoned, to cover the mess of bandages. But her face is pale and strained. She's been injured and hasn't yet recovered.]

Hello, Hadriel. I hope you're all well, or at least -- recovering.

Recent events have made two things clear to me. First, that the gods will attempt to turn us against each other. And secondly, that they can influence our minds in ways far more direct that I had anticipated. A protocol must be created so this will not happen again.

[She takes a deep breath and winces.]

However, I don't have the proper training to make such a thing. So I am reaching out to everyone here. If you have ideas, I would like to hear them.

[There's a pause.]

I am sorry, to the man I hurt. I'm afraid don't know your name.

[Emily's voice is soft on that, and her expression is relaxed, like she's perfectly comfortable being just the tiniest bit smug here.

She's going to ignore the protocol thing for now, because if Maketh isn't trained in how to handle this, Emily sure isn't.

There's something else she wants to talk about.]

What else would I rely on? [Maketh sounds tired, for the most part, but not annoyed. She might - might - even be teasing a bit. At the second question she nods slowly, hiding the wince.] I'll live. Did you make it back to the house?

Dumb luck, maybe? Worked for me.

[That's a fucked up story that she may tell Maketh one day. Or at least that one part of it.

Instead, for now, all Emily does is nod.] Yeah. Glad that shit's over.

Also, um. Thanks for stopping me.

I'd rather not. [Maketh looks dubious at the prospect. Dumb luck. Never. Everything must be calculated for the best possible outcome.

Still. Emily has survived this far. Perhaps there's something to that.

Her expression softens a little.]

You're welcome. We have to look out for one another.

[There's more to it than that, but Maketh doesn't have a script for this moment and she's wary of saying too much. She wishes someone had stopped her, in the end. But what's done has already been done.]

I don't blame you. Luck isn't a sure thing.

[And on preparing and making sure everything is under control, Emily actually agrees with Maketh. Would've been nice to have her around through this whole, most recent mess, but... at least she was able to help Emily once.]

I did run into him another day, though. Rhys. The guy Rage made me hate. I didn't kill him, but... still.

[Yeeeah. Maketh understands, though, if her vid post is to be judged by.]

Oh, can we have the knife back? I can go get it from you.

[Even the Empire. That was the hardest lesson.]

[There's not much that can be said at this point. She's glad Emily didn't kill anyone, in the end.]

Okay, I'll be over soon. Chris said he offered you coffee, so I'm bringing that with me.

[Before this can get any sort of sappy, Emily shuts off the feed and goes to get the coffee.]

I -- all right. [Emily doesn't seem the type to visit, or at least not on a whim.]
