So everything has sucked recently. Back home in Montana, when shit got rough we'd always get together and have a big bonfire. Get drunk, make s'mores, all that stuff. It didn't make things better but at least you forgot about it for a little while.

I've got some graham crackers, chocolate, and other things for roasting. No marshmallows though so if anyone wants to come through in the clutch it would be appreciated.

I'm lighting this up tonight at dusk, so if you want in, be there. I've only got so much to burn and it might not last more than an hour or two.

It is. It's true, they've brought many people out of unfortunate circumstances back home--my own, for example--but they do little to endear themselves to us with their highhanded manner of speaking to and dealing with us.

Some people yeah. I'm close to being dead so you'd think this would be an improvement, but I'm not really sure it is. It's delaying the inevitable and I might be murdered by robots while feeding fake gods with my emotions. So.. not too much of an upgrade.

But surely you can at least try to petition for relocation elsewhere? That's what I'm doing and I see no reason to be denied. I'd be going to an entirely different world, one which never had me to begin with, so one would think they could make similar accommodations for you.

[she sighs] I was. I was also murdered by my--I suppose the terminology which would fit is mother-in-law. So I've nowhere else to go. Besides, I fell in love with a man from Earth while he was here and he asked me to join him. I've stitched his name and address into all of my undergarments, just to be on the safe side.

Though that is some high level romance movie stuff. I hope you're able to find him.

As do I. I've been striving to be ready to be with him again ever since he left. I know that I will be in for a great deal of culture shock.

It won't be that bad. Depending on where he is on Earth anyway... and when I suppose. Hopefully he's from after there's showers and indoor plumbing.

I lived without showers and electricity and phones for many years, but he's from 2017. I should be able to adapt to the technology without much trouble. It's the part where I'll have to adapt to being one woman out of millions that concerns me.

I suppose, but . . . I was raised with the goal of becoming queen all my life. It was the only thing I ever wanted and I achieved it. Only to be murdered because of it.

Well that's shitty. But hey, you achieved your dreams, so time to get new ones. You can make it a goal to try every flavor of soup or maybe, learn how to knit or take a class in glassblowing and make fancy candlesticks.

There's lots to do that doesn't have to do with a monarchy.

Well, I might already have a new dream. It will be difficult to achieve, but I think I'm up to the challenge. I've been practicing for over a year now.

Not . . . exactly. I intend to go into fashion design, that's true, but my goal is to become a vigilante.

Oh uh, it's like a police officer. I work for the sheriff's department so we patrol the whole county rather than only a specific city.

A police officer? I'm afraid I've never heard that term, either.

Do you guys not have law enforcement?

It's like the military but uh... smaller?

[Okay that's a shitty way to describe it, but he's not really good at this.]

We enforce the rules and charge people with crimes and oversee the jail.
