Some of you just can't seem to stop being upset over my methods. While I'm sure Rage is more than happy to let this continue, I'm here to propose a compromise.

I've noticed that many of you feel fear while asleep. After a time, I've discerned that this is due to hallucinations occurring while you are immobile, and I've decided to allow you all to experience more of these frightful hallucinations.

I think that sounds workable. You aren't put into any real physical danger, and I still get power. And, if you can see one another's hallucinations then you'll have more people who frightened of the same thing, which makes my job easier in the long run.

A handsome compromise, yes? Good?

Is this a one off thing, or could you just keep to nightmare eating?

[ nightmares are, after all, much easier to deal with than the rest of the things fear has done to them. ]

I doubt I could do it forever, especially with the other gods intervening as they are.

That's a stupid question, Fear. I'd rather deal with nightmares every night than ever have to go through some of the shit you pulled ever again.

I'm only passably familiar with you humans at this point, so no, I don't think that was a stupid question.

Still. I'll try to keep that in mind.

People have been more than vocal on how they feel about you, Fear, and how you get your creepy powers from us. If you weren't listening, then that's on you.

Oh, I'm not implying that you all adore me, I'm just saying that I think it's fair to ask whether or not you'd have mental anguish over physical danger. Your species is resilient, and yet also weak in ways that I don't quite understand yet.

I wanted power more than I wanted your approval. Now, I'm just curious.

This relationship would be so much more beneficial if you looked to us for approval.

Well, what happens if humans cease to eat?

I saw how you were before Hope gave you all food, in the beginning. It was a sorry sight.

And that would happen to you without us?

Oh, that alone wouldn't kill me. But I'd have no source of energy, and so I'd be very weak.

That is not the same. If we don't eat, we don't just get weak, we fucking die.
