At the rate these monsters arrive, before long there will be too many of them for me to effectively keep them within the caves. As such, I would appreciate it if those of you who can fight would help out your fellows by venturing into the caves and killing a few monsters. Naturally, you would be rewarded for this.

Additionally, the state of the city itself is quite poor, and I am unable to waste energy on improving it. Anyone who might wish to assist on that point will find supplies in the shops for a period of time. Any help there will not go unrewarded either.

You do not have to participate, and I have no doubt that some of you will refuse to for petty reasons, but to those who do - you have my thanks.

I hope that your health keeps well, that your crops grow well, that your sleep runs well. I hope also that this reaches you, as we are wanting of pigeons, and I do not know if word can be trusted, if it was not bartered with grain from a blood-thirsting bird. Although I ask: does the 'hope' of each man add to your strain? Please advise. I shall work tirelessly to hope for nothing in particular and to despair of all my previous hope, until such a time as you pronounce on the matter.

As for your summons, they are honourable and just, and no hero should want reward for honour and justice. You have my promise of help, though the subject of 'monsters' could benefit from clarity. Some of the dragons I have encountered in the past would flaunt the word as their flattery, where trolls might think it unkind. I hope we do not mean to be unkind in our slaying. Oh. No. I disavow my hope. Forgive me, it is a hard habit.

Beyond this, I thank you the gift of a journey to your land. I did not know I was for travel, but we never anticipate the quests fate sets before us. I pray you enjoy the day's weather, although I cannot speak for its nature with great specificity. I am certain, however, that it would wish to be liked, as do all things in their heart of hearts.

Your message reached me well. Communication such as this is nearly instantaneous. I can tell you that you can and should hope, because it gives me power, and I would greatly appreciate it. Your help is appreciated as well - the creatures in the caves are not aware enough to be offended at being called monsters, and the unkindness of slaying them is balanced by the kindness of keeping your companions here safe, I believe.

I did not bring you here, so you do not need to thank me for that, although I confess it's a nice change.

Dear Hope:

I confess, I have not spoken to a god, and know not what forms to us. I was far more fond of sword and sorcery than etiquette in my upbringing.

I would require little reward, as I would appreciate the challenge of such creatures if they are anything like those that met me on my arrival. I shall locate the armory forthwith and proceed outward. Will all of these monsters resemble hose I met earlier? And would you have any requests for those monsters which are most dangerous and need to be steered away from habitation?

Most of you lack etiquette completely, so you may use what forms you like.

Some of the monsters may resemble those that were in the arena. All of them are dangerous, and all of them should be disposed of if possible. Of course, I would prefer you guard your own life, as well.
