[Chris smiles and gives a small wave at the camera when the feed starts, then turns his hand to show Hope's blessing on the back of it.]

So uh, who else got one? And are they all from Hope, or...?

[This is so cool you guys he wants to see who else got what. And for something else slightly less important by still cool--]

Oh, also, my iPhone was up and working for a bit thanks to Pell, and I managed to get some music off it. I'll share on the condition no one makes fun of my taste.

[The last comment is a joke--he's really not going to be too hurt by jabs about his choice in music--but the offer is serious, and attached is a download of the music he's copied off so far. It's kind of a slow process, so there's still more on the phone that he can transfer later.]

[He looks off to the side for a moment, reaching for something, and eventually brings back into a frame a powered-off black iPhone with a cracked screen.]

It's my phone from home. They're a lot like the phones we have here, though.

Oh, it's uh, iPhone like... The letter 'I'. It's just a branding thing that's been around a long time.

Pell powered it up for me. No idea exactly how.

Normally you just plug them into the wall to charge, but I don't have the right cable and uh... Who knows how the power around here works anyway.

Uh, not normally, no. Their batteries have to charge.

I think the ones here just run off Hope's power, though?

[Since he's pretty sure Hope maintains the network.]

It's a god blessing, so I give you uh, basically a superpower. From Hope it's healing.

I think so, yeah, though I didn't do much besides kill a monster.

[Chris puts on a great look of mock hurt, pressing a hand to his chest.]

Wow. I see how it is.

[But then he grins, obviously joking.]

Yeah, I killed a monster. I needed more bullets, so...

[Chris studies Shadow a moment through the video, trying to read that response, then smiles again a little more sedately.]

Thanks. I mean, I'd really prefer not to have to deal with monsters at all, but...

[But it's best to have bullets if he needs them, and it's also a little reassuring to know he can deal with at least some of the monsters he might encounter. Considering the one he'd killed this recent trip had been one of the type in the arena when he first arrived, it was extra confidence-boosting.]

I don't know what they're called, they're just these... They're like these transparent things with mouths for faces and they hide in the dark. They um, were in the arena when I first got here.

[And after coming from the mountain that had been a really unpleasant thing to deal with, and would've been even if he hadn't been injured and exhausted on top of everything.]

Fortunately enough Chris just takes it as worrying from someone who doesn't know how to worry without being aggressive about it, and so isn't really bothered.]

Nah, went with Lilith. She's uh, super badass so it wasn't all that dangerous.

[That question really gives him pause, not expecting it, and he takes a moment to consider it--and if he wants to answer it--before deciding what to say. But then finally he does respond, quieter and more serious.]

I don't um... I don't think anything I had to prove would, you know, be accomplished by killing a monster.

[His ego isn't exactly out of control and more than fulfilled by everything he's survived by this point. He might have other things to prove or make up for, but they're in vastly different areas.]

I was just running out of bullets.
