Oh, also, my iPhone was up and working for a bit thanks to Pell, and I managed to get some music off it. I'll share on the condition no one makes fun of my taste.

[The last comment is a joke--he's really not going to be too hurt by jabs about his choice in music--but the offer is serious, and attached is a download of the music he's copied off so far. It's kind of a slow process, so there's still more on the phone that he can transfer later.]

Yeah, it's uh, a god blessing. This one's Hope's.

I see. What does it do? And why were you given a blessing, if you don't mind me asking?

It's a healing power but I don't know a lot of the details on how much it can do. There are a few people here who've had it before, so I'm gonna ask them.

[And Hope too, for that matter.]

Um, no idea, actually. I mean, I killed a monster, so I'm guessing that's why?

[Though it doesn't seem like enough to earn a god's blessing. Still, he's so not complaining.]

That's... surprisingly generous of them, I must admit. Is it a permanent ability?

According to someone else that had it, it wears off after awhile.

[Which sucks, but just means he needs to put it to good use while he has it.]

Ah. [Not out of a job, then.] At least it should be useful before that happens. Injuries seem commonplace here, and you have a lot of people to look after. Friends and such.

Yeah, though fortunately most of them are uh... Less accident-prone than I am.

I was thinking about seeing if they need help at the clinic, but um, I'm not sure about that.

Why? I'm fairly certain they're always in need of help, or at least that's what I'm led to believe by my neighbor.

There's just, you know. The whole spooky fog thing, and I dunno who your neighbor is or if you know Kate, but since she was kind of involved it's just... Awkward.

I mean, that is plenty of reason. I believe she's trying to make amends for her actions.

Well, that's um, pretty much the main thing, yeah. And I know; I really doubt she meant anyone to get hurt or anything, but it's uh... It's just kind of complicated.

[He sighs quietly, glancing offscreen a moment and then back.]

And I mean, I've kind of been super avoiding her the last week, so there's that.

[He doesn't, but he can't exactly blame people for wanting to avoid Kate. He doesn't have much of a choice in the matter, himself.]

Well, she's currently making healing trinkets, something people can carry with them for minor injuries. The clinic has those, so you can save what power Hope has granted you for someone else.

[Chris' gaze dips to the floor this time for a few seconds, then he sighs a little.]

I saw her post about them, yeah. They don't work for anything really serious though, do they?

Nothing as serious as when I healed you, nor anything like broken bones, as I understand it. Perhaps a minor fracture or serious abrasions.

Okay, so I should probably just reserve it for anything like that. And uh, hope that means I never have to use it at all.

[Because he'd really like if no one got that seriously injured, even if it's not something life threatening.]

Let us hope so. [Because if any of them have to come visit him and Kate drops by as she usually does, that could be bad.]

If nothing else, there are a few tricks with teas that I could show Emily, assuming she hasn't already mastered glyphcrafting.

[That sounds interesting, and he looks a combination of curious and amused at that last comment. There's a story there, he can feel it.]

She's uh, a pretty fast learner.

Uh, I think so? I mean, knowing Em, probably.

[They've been focusing on different things lately so he's not as aware of what she's doing and not doing as he usually might be, though.]

Well, I suppose next time I'm over to check on her progress, I can show her how to imbue teas. I mean, you can do it with other drinks, but there's something about the composition of tea that seems to work best.

Oh, that's really cool. What uh... What sort of things can you do with them? Like what effects?

[That sounds like making potions and the nerd in Chris is so interesting.]

[Using glyphcrafting to imbue teas is bordering on alchemy, but is easy enough that Carlisle can do it.]

Well, I brought it up on the thought that she could make Soothing Tea, known for doing just that to aches and pains of both the body and mind. It's not exactly for healing, but it has its uses. There are traveling alchemists who make some of the more flamboyant teas for children, though. For party tricks and such.

That'd probably uh... Get a lot of use, yeah. Would it um, help with sleeping at all?

What you're looking for is the Breath of Night, if you want something to help with sleep. I make it quite regularly.

[He chuckles nervously to himself.] I've, er. Never slept well.

Is it um... Hard to make?

[He's a little reassured that Carlisle doesn't seem to think it's weird he's asking; Chris used to have some pretty normal insomnia back at home before things happened, but since that night on the mountain and coming here sleeping has been a lot more of a struggle.]
