[ Dean is making this brief for a variety of reasons. But he sadly doesn't care enough to make this anything but video - audio and text just seem like far too much effort, and so Dean can be seen boozing it up with a half empty bottle of whiskey he received from the gods.

[She's so not ignoring anything, because she'd pretty much just been teasing Dean because it was easy and fun rather than that she really thought there was something going on. But wow, she might have to send Sam a message here soon.

Her tone is more carefully gentle and sympathetic when she responds.]

How is it different?

[ Look he's switching to private for the first time ever because he has to keep this from Dean. What this should prove, of course, is that he should also keep it from Ruby, but Cas is extra naive and fragile right now and most of all dangerously trusting in all the wrong ways, so guess who just became his new confidente? Congrats.

He wrings his hands, briefly. ]

I believe in this case it has something to do with the... Um. [ Come on, Cas. ] I don't fit the necessary parameters.

[Castiel no, you poor innocent demon-trusting angel. Not that Ruby minds, because this is entirely useful to her.]

You mean that you have a male vessel and not a female one?

Precisely. It can't be helped.

You must be familiar with the human preoccupation for gender preference yourself, as a demon. After all, you chose yours specifically, did you not, for its own alluring properties.

[ The more to woo Sam with. ]

I'd offer to loan you mine, but I think Dean would have an aneurysm and I do have some shame.

[She's so glad it was Sam and not Dean that was marked as Lucifer's vessel.]

I choose my vessels for specific reasons, yes, though not just because they're attractive.

[Mostly being that she was a woman in life and so prefers female vessels when she has the chance. It doesn't hurt that there's no soul in this one.]

You angels just pick whoever's a match and agrees, right?

Consent is the only priority, correct, once the bloodline is assured. There is something to be said for possessing the body of an adult and not a child, however, but male or female--it hardly matters.

This vessel is mine now. If I were to give it up, the sacrifice its owner made would be disrespected.

It does seem pretty fitting for you. What sacrifice do you mean; saying yes?

The sacrifice he made was more than that. [ Castiel suddenly blinks, quickly, and averts his gaze downward. He feels guilty about it. ] He gave up his life and his family, and any hope of ever returning to his wife, or watching his daughter grow up.

I took his life, and everything which that meant, but worst of all, I forced the choice upon him, by involving him in it in the first place. I took his freedom. I took everything. Like a demon.

That is something I have to carry.

He agreed, Castiel. You gave him a choice and he agreed to it, so obviously he thought it was worth it; you didn't force him to say yes just by giving him the choice.

[And she knows well enough that humans can be incredibly stubborn when it comes to choice. If Castiel's vessel wanted to refuse than he would've, or at least should've. If he said yes and didn't mean it then Ruby thinks that's his problem, not anyone else's.]

[ Bleed to death and lose his daughter to the fight as well, or give up his body once more to save his life and his family. Some choice. Castiel shakes his head, for a moment. ]

It doesn't matter. It's in the past now. He's gone, and as for his family... [ A pause. ] I have no idea what's happened to them.

So do you have any advice for me, or not?

[Hm. Well, whatever, sounds like not Castiel's problem and definitely not hers, so she'll just let that go and focus on his question.]

I have advice, but I don't think you'd like it.

You don't have to like the advice that you're given. I just want to hear it. [ Because he's so lost, and everything is out of his control. ] Please tell me.

[ Advice from demons, though. He'll be careful what he does with it. ]

[Alright, well, he asked for it, so...]

My advice is to stay away from Dean. You can still be his friend or whatever it is that was going on between you two before this, but as far as anything else goes you can't necessarily turn it off but you can try to ignore it.

But he's not exactly the type you want to be trusting with your feelings.

[Sure, Ruby doesn't really do feelings much anymore, but she remembers them clearly enough. She also remembers Dean's type, and Dean himself.]

I think ignoring it would be the best. I can... I can see that it might, but...

[ He frowns, tipping his head minutely. It's very inward turned, thoughtful and miserable to a point. ]

He's not the type? What do you mean by that?

I mean Dean is not exactly the kind of person you want as your romantic partner. I don't know how you angels do things, but considering how Dean treats pretty much anyone and anything that isn't Sam, I wouldn't want to be relying on him for my emotional needs.

[And Castiel seems the sensitive type, even if he's kind of oblivious about emotions at the same time.]

[ He considers her words for a moment, and then reconsiders them in context. This is, after all, Ruby, a demon, and her treatment by Dean is reviewed in respect to her corruption of Sam. Filling him with demon blood, tricking him into killing Lilith--it's all quite relevant. Even if it's true, or may have been at the time of recording, Castiel believes that they're closer than ever. Perhaps not as close as Dean and Sam, and Cas has no doubts as to which of them Dean would choose if it came down to it, but he had been called a brother, and that was something. That mattered.

Maybe to a demon it didn't qualify. Maybe it didn't matter. So he considered her advice with due suspicion. ]

I'm not relying on him for anything, but even so... Time has passed since you last knew him. Dean is not so driven as you remember.

[She's quiet several seconds, frowning a little, but whatever. She's given her advice as he asked, and if he wants to fall into this trap then that's his problem.

She feels like there's some sort of ironic comment to make here about fools and angels, but instead she just shrugs.]

Maybe. I hope you're right.

[Mostly for herself--Dean being less 'driven' would be great--but also sort of for him. In sentiment if not actual feeling, at least.]
