[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]

[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.

Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]

Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--

[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]

--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.

--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.

Okay, my bad. In my experience, scientific folk have been pretty quick haggle and make demands. I just figured you might be interested. [And you don't get something for nothing, after all.]

What specifically would you like to know? The gist is as said: enormous mecha of comparable size to the kaiju, piloted by teams of two, in one, three.

Regardless, wall or safehouse, we would have the same problem with a barrage of contrasting elements. It seems much more practical to focus on each dragon and consider particularized defensive and offensive approaches. They have not yet acted in concert; whether or not they would I obviously cannot say.

With many on the immediate offensive, it may be impossible to distinguish the agitation of their displacement from the agitation of attack. From that perspective, I wonder if observational data could indicate whether they would be less hostile if left to themselves.

It is the specific nature of his understanding. He had been quite free with that information, from his first mention of Miss Ashley. Perhaps Hermann was too obviously the sort that either 1) did not care to know in the first place or 2) would do absolutely nothing with it. ]

It must have been easier, given Miss Ashley was not a loose-lipped miscreant intent on disregarding your every request merely for the sake of upsetting you and the apparent inherent humor in that.

My meaning was different. Not that it much matters.

[ Hermann would also accept Mr. Cheng's alternative theory. Even as one with a much high probability. The Door even encourages that very sloppy amalgamation.

He has not, however, ever played Final Fantasy. ]

Yet, chances are high that in worlds with dragons, men have indeed gone to that very place, i.e. slicing open giant lizards. Therefore, it is inapplicable, though it was inapplicable to begin with, because you used the initial saying to argue for dragons having loot. Now, you advocate more generally for attacking the dragons.

Related hypotheses, perhaps, as the theoretically to obtain the loot one would need attack, but the act of 'boldly going' contributes nothing to the odds of loot.

[It's a lot the latter, really; by the time Hermann arrived Chris and Ashley had gotten more comfortable with the idea of actually being in a relationship and so were being slightly less guarded about it, but the big reason had been that Chris was pretty sure Hermann wasn't--and isn't--the type to meddle in the sort of way they'd wanted to avoid. Chris has had enough of anyone meddling in his relationships to last a lifetime.

Hermann's response is so unexpectedly salty that Chris starts laughing, though he quickly tries to stifle it a bit. He's not sure how much laughing Hermann's mood can handle.]
