and theres a couple different distinct ecosystem patterns
this place is all just sort of a Cave

well like
in the Underground there's Snowdin
which is super cold and snows all the time
and then Waterfall where theres tons of rivers and caverns
(more like here)
and then Hotland where there's a ton of lava!!
aaaand up in the capital there's more infrastructure and it's a more moderate climate
bc its ben made to suit as many monsters as possible
and then theres the ruins which is like super cave-y but ive never been there

Why is your Underground so wet? I guess I understand the lava part, but the rest of that sounds ridiculous. Even the river down here is bad enough.

we were at the bottom of a waterfall I think
or smth like that
there was def a big one that flowed through the middle
so i guess that informed the rest of the uh

the big waterfall sweeps a lot of trash down that collects at the dump so
you can get a bunch of free stuff there!!!

its good they all have someplace to go

I suppose, but if those climates didn't exist in the first place then they would have adapted and evolved differently long ago.

im sure we already evolved well to fit the climates we have
but certain types of monsters have been around for centuries!!!
also. certain monsters have been around for centuries
so evolution doesnt exactly go fast for us

for monsters its pretty normal
some monsters live a really really long time and some dont
but usually it's Boss Monsters that live the longest
since they only age when they have kids
normal monsters usually have a lifespan range depending on their species

like, grow from kids to adults

it is unique to only a subset of monsters so
that probably makes sense
it's because of their magical output vs power levels
all monsters generate magic but eventually as monsters age they generate less and less
and so eventually dont have enough to sustain themselves
but boss monsters constantly create enough to live
so they dont age past maturity unless they pour that magic into a child

idk ive never thought of it as incredibly weird but
ive also only ever known one human EVER so

they Fall Down
and after that...
they turn to dust and their SOUL disappears
it happens at a different rate for everyone
so just like humans
kind of
