[ Allison is standing in the middle of the orchard when she clicks on her phone, an odd-looking fruit in her hand. She thinks it's supposed to be something like an apple-peach-mango hybrid but she's not really sure. Which is part of why she's broadcasting: ]

Is everything in here edible? I really don't want to end up accidentally poisoning myself, but I also really want some fresh fruit. Considering this place has apparently brought in all sorts of crazy things, I wouldn't put a poisoned orchard past the people in power. [ She turns it over in her hand again and then finally shifts her attention to her phone. ] Also, I stumbled across a signed football back when everyone seemed to be getting things-- [ and thank god she didn't get something gory and awful ] --but I have no idea whose it is. It's definitely not mine. [ If she's going to support any sport, it's lacrosse, not football. ] I'm hoping someone here might either know who it belongs to or be able to stake claim on it.

[ She ends the feed with a pretty friendly smile, her attention shifting back to the fruit as she hits the end button. ]

No one's seemed to get sick off of it yet.

[ Except for her, but... Everything makes her sick, actually, so that's a moot point. ]

Some people can't eat it - special diets and whatnot - but the people that can haven't seemed to complain.

That's good to know. [ Although her interest is piqued: ] What kind of diets would make someone not eat fruit? [ It's only really after she asks that she realizes there could be any number of unknown species here that don't exist (to her knowledge) back home. Like vampires. ]

Some people aren't human, so... They don't eat the same things mortals do. I don't know what everyone here is, but. I know that they are here.

[ So, yes. An number of unknown species that exist in Hadriel at any given time. ]

Oh. [ The only non-humans Allison's personally super familiar with are werewolves, and they eat normal people food. ] Well, that makes sense. But I'm definitely human, so I guess I don't need to worry about this, [ she holds up the fruit for emphasis. ]

[ Do they prefer meat, at least? Rose's werewolves do. ]

Nah, probably not! It should be totally cool for you.

[ That would depend on how close it is to the full moon, but generally they do. ]

Good. [ It would suck if she couldn't eat fruit. ] I'm guessing, since you know about the fruit and the meat, that you've been around for a while?

Not... as long as some of the other people here, no. But I make it my business to protect the orchard after someone threatened it with an axe so.

[ So she knows a bit about it. ]

Why would someone do that? It's just fruit.

Because they could, apparently. Some people don't like Sorrow either, so, maybe they think nixing the orchard will like upset him or something. I'unno.

[ SHRUG. Notice how she said 'some people' since she is decidedly not one of them. Hope frustrates her, but... It's already a complex emotion, isn't it? She's already expressed her opinions on the gods though, so. ]

Those are pretty crappy reasons. I'm definitely not against trying to get back at the gods, but going after something that helps those of us who've been kidnapped? [ She just shakes her head a bit in disapproval. ]

[ Yeah, it was... thankfully a short-lived thing, at least. Warrick seemed to realized how incredibly stupid that'd be. Or, at least, he realized how angry a lot of people would be should he actually go through with it. ]

Yeah, well, people do pretty dumb stuff when they're angry. I mean. I can't blame them, honestly, but.... Anger doesn't really solve anything, I think.

I definitely agree with you there. [ Which is funny, considering what anger (and grief and manipulation) will make Allison do in the future. ] I'm glad it's not happening anymore.

I'm Allison, by the way; I probably should've introduced myself before when I posted the broadcast.

[ Let future Allison worry about that nonsense. Rose decides to let most things be worried about by future her, too. ]

Nice to meet you, Allison. My name's Rose. Have you been in the cave long?

Not really. Not compared to some people, anyway. [ She's really hoping she doesn't end up stuck here for a year, either... ] I got here about... a month ago, I think?

Ever been somewhere like here before?

[ Not Hadriel specifically, but... Turns out Rose isn't the only one who came from a similar place beforehand. It's interesting, actually. ]

Depends on what you mean by like here, I guess. My home's pretty normal as far as lighting and not being underground goes, but we've got some pretty weird stuff there, too.

A different world, I guess. They're not all the same though Haven was... similar.

[ Ah well. ]

[ There's a part of Allison that doesn't want to say anything because she's technically not supposed to, but that's back home, not here in this weird sunlight-lacking cave. ] Werewolves mostly.

[ She wanted to be, in the beginning. The experiments they were put through were... rough, but. The people were worth it.

Even in the end, she still thinks the people were worth it. ]

I'm from the Makai. Though I relocated to earth when I was old enough to. They have werewolves there, too, actually. So that's not all that weird for me.

[ Allison can't help the slightly impressed expression that crosses her face when she says that bit about relocating to earth. ]

I have a feeling it's not too weird for a lot of people here. [ Which is comforting; it's good to know her world isn't the only one with them. ] It sounds really interesting, though, where you're from. Where's the Makai?

[ It was an impressive move, but... unfortunately a bit arduous as well. ]

My werewolves are a bit intense though. Dunno about other worlds.

[ Ah, well, she doesn't talk about it much. At all, if she can help it. Though since Allison asked nicely... ]

The Makai is Japanese for 'demon world.' And that's basically what it is, really. It's a world of yokai - or demons, loosely translated - though we're close to the human of idea of monsters than demons.

Intense how?

Oh. [ There's a flash of surprise that crosses Allison's face, but no judgement to go along with it; just because she comes from a world of demons doesn't mean she is one. And even if she is, she's seemed plenty nice thus far. ] I think I'd want to leave there, too, honestly. Was it as awful as the name implies?

Intense as in their transformations are from mortal appearance to werewolves are incredibly painful and they're easily nine feet massive beasts after.

[ That's... a reasonable reaction, at least. Rose has gotten used to places like Hadriel being so accepting that it's actually more the norm than her world was nowadays. ]

Yes. We're... Well, some of us aren't so bad. But there are some pretty nasty yokai out there who like to flaunt their power.

...yeah, that sounds intense. Ours aren't quite that tall, I don't think, but I've heard that the transformation is painful.

Which is probably the case with anyone out there, no matter what race or whatever they are. Sounds like it's good you were able to escape, though.

Yeah, but I apparently jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

First Haven, now Hadriel. Starting to wonder if I'll ever get a break. At least here I'm doing something good for a change.

[ Re-populating a people via emotional energy is a much nobler cause than just being experimented on for mad science. ]
