[Getting no word from Henry or Maketh as demons are spawning in the city, Nick steps in.]

Guard, report in. Long story short in case you missed the memo: there are demons in the city.

[There's the sound of shuffling paper. He's been taking notes from what's come up on the network about these things.]

Inquisitor Trevelyan is closing the tears they're coming through, but until she gets to them all, it's our job to keep folks safe. Stick to your patrols, send word if you need backup, and if it comes right down to it, do what you need to do.

[He signs off with that. Time to keep trying to get a hold of the actual leaders of the Guard. Them being missing is not a good sign.]

[Oh good, one of the new folks. While Nick is aware of most members via paperwork, he doesn't make it to the office much these days to actually meet the new recruits.

Well, except for today, when his bosses have vanished and somehow has to manage the Guard.]

Agreed. You got a name?

Kain Highwind, dragoon of Baron. [A sigh.] I suppose the latter part doesn't mean much here. Anyway, I didn't think we'd met yet. You are...?

Nick Valentine, detective. [Which also doesn't mean much here.] Have you spoken with Maketh or Henry?

[At all, not just lately, though he'd take answers regarding to the latter.]

I've spoken with Henry... though that was a little while ago. He's the one who initially suggested that I join the Guard. Though... I've not heard from him in some time.

[It is pretty strange he didn't get on the network like this himself, really.]

[At least he's talked with someone. That's one piece of good news.]

We've all been a bit busy, what with all the newcomers we had a couple of weeks ago. And now this.

[It's always something.]

If it's not dragons, it's demons, apparently. I'm starting to notice that about this place... I can hardly wait to see what's next.

[The last part is sarcastic, because seriously, does it ever end? But truthfully, Kain doesn't mind it much. That's one good thing he can say about this place, as someone who likes a good challenge, this is... exactly what he needs.]

At least it's far from boring.

If nothing else, it's that.

[Hard to be bored when you're constantly under fire. Even coming from a place as dangerous as the Commonwealth, Nick still feels like he could use a vacation.]

Let me know if you need backup somewhere, and if you could keep an eye out around the Colosseum, that'd help.

I'll be sure to alert you if I do. I'm glad these devices are good for something.

[It's still a weird thing to him, to be able to communicate in this way, but he's learning.]

Also, noted. I'll keep focused on that location. My ability makes it easy for me to take high vantage points to spot trouble over a wide area... so I should be able to notice any rifts easily enough.

[The dragoon thing definitely comes in handy here.]
