Accidental Video; Horrible Roommates Being Horrible

[The video turns on haphazardly, staring up as if someone had flung it across the room and accidentally turned it on. Which, incidentally, is exactly what happened. There's a red glare as Kylo's lightsaber comes into view. He slashes at someone just out of view, missing them, and instead taking out part of the couch.]

I've had it with you! I'll make you wish you'd died as a child!

[Then his toe hits the video, sending it spinning and landing in another spot.]

Oh like I'm going to be scared of a pathetic version of Darth Vader. You have no idea how many times I wanted to abandon you on Hoth.

[There is a loud clambering as Hux got out of the way and when the video settles he can be seen with his blaster in his hand, eyes shining with a mad fury.

He raises the blaster and fires a few shots aimed at Kylo, but a few shots hit the walls and destroy the couch.

Kylo blocks the blaster shots with an almost contemptuous ease, his lightsaber twirling in front of him in a back and forth pattern. He stops the last shot in midair, sending it sailing back towards Hux.]

Is that the best you can do? My mother is a better shot, you Tarkin-wannabe.

[Now he was just hitting below the belt.]

[Hux barely manages to dodge the reflected blast, which hit the opposite wall, leaving a deep mark. He's back on his feet to fire a few more shots with a growl of fury. He doesn't care where they land, he just wants to make Kylo suffer.]

Oh, please, you just sit and talk to your grandfather's helmet. 'I will finish what you started' - that's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. You're just an embarrassment.

[Kylo goes very still for a moment, the video's skewed perspective making him look about seven feet tall. Everything nearby him begins to rattle with the power of the Force. Then, with a roar of fury, they all lift up, and began hurling themselves at Hux.]

I have more power than you could ever dream of! You think firing off your little superweapon gives you power? You're nothing. Just a bastard who got lucky.

[Hux's expression turns ugly, he's spent his entire life being called a bastard no matter how much he tried to put his past behind him.]

My little superweapon? The superweapon I could use to command the power of the stars when I destroyed the entire Hosnian System? I destroyed the Republic, their Senate, and their entire fleet in a moment while you sulked like a litt-

[He paused suddenly as he noticed the device, walking towards it.] You idiot, you left your phone on.

[Kylo looks over his shoulder at the phone. Great. They'd just broadcast that entire argument to the network. Now everyone knows about the Hosnian System. With a frustrated growl, he picks up a nearby lamp, and throws at Hux's head, not caring if it actually connects or not.]

This is your fault, you smug moron.

[Their physical altercation is done. The bickering is far from over.]

That is not an improvement! It violates every rule of military engagement. [If you are going to commit genocide, you must at least do it quietly.]

You can't honestly think that the Republic had any respect for military engagement either. There comes a point where you have to do what is necessary for the galaxy despite what traditional warfare may dictate.

I simply decided to change the rules.

[But this is Hux and he had to make a point and demonstration to the rest of the galaxy.]

And you decided it was necessary to target civilians along with military assets?

[It's a scare tactic, Maketh thinks. Perhaps the most brutal she's ever come across. Look what I can do. Look what I ended. Just like that.

She's shaking. She hasn't really noticed.]

You have ruined your campaign, Hux. Surely you see that. The survivors will never follow you.

There aren't any survivors.

[Nothing had been left to chance. There had been senators and officials loyal to the Empire and First Order since the dawn of the Republic. It had been a matter of making sure everyone was on Hosnian Prime and the fleet was positioned just right.

Hux was nothing if not efficient.]

There are many systems still loyal to the Empire and welcome our return once we destroyed the Republic.

[Which isn't a lie- many worlds profited either from the stability or business the Empire provided and suffered when the Republic reduced their fleet and drove the Empire out.]

Not in that system. You made sure of that.

[But others. Oh, certainly there will be others, with family or loved ones lying among the dead - or simply righteous anger at the destruction. This will not stand. It cannot. There are too many dead. More than can rightly be counted.

Maketh huffs, almost a laugh.]

You'd best hope your officers are loyal, Hux. It only takes one to get past your guard and shove a knife in your throat.

I have no doubt of that, actually.

[There have been attempts on his life since before he had become an officer in the First Order. It was just a part of his life and he believed it had just made him stronger for it. He had left a wake of bodies behind in his climb to power.

While he's always on guard against other officers of the First Order, he knows Kylo Ren is more of a danger to him.]

Yet here I stand still.

For now.

[She's going to kill him. He's going to suffer before he dies.]

I'm sure you have plans to change that.

[After their bar fight, he wouldn't hesitate to shoot her if she attacked him again.]

[She gives him an unfriendly look. As if she'd announce it over the network where everyone can see.]

Why bother? I'm sure Kylo will see it through soon enough.

[No, her revenge will be slow in coming. She intends to make it grand.]

He hasn't in the five years we've been assigned to each other, we are able to put our...differences aside when needed.

You were sharing quarters the whole time?

[There's an edge to her tone. Gee, it would be a shame if someone were to fuck with their plumbing and turn off the hot water, wouldn't it? Guess who has a wrench and plans.]

Yes, of course. Are you planning on dropping by? At least let us clean up a bit first.

[He's not going to mention that they're moving soon so they have more room for Anakin to stay with them.]

No, no. I, unfortunately, have standards.

[That's probably for the best.]

I am at least capable of playing nice when needed and have cultivated many allies for the First Order. You're just always unpleasant to be around constantly, to everyone, especially when you do your Vader impressions.

Do you ever think maybe it's only you I'm this unpleasant with? Most of the people here I don't feel a constant, aching urge to Force choke every time they open their mouths.]

Perhaps it's because I'm the only one who doesn't put up with your ridiculous act and calls you out when you're being insufferable when no one else dares to.

Have you met the Togruta? She manages to do the same without bringing up the urge in me to knock your teeth in.

The Togruta hasn't had to deal with you for five years. And when she's done with you for the day she gets to hand you back to me to deal with at home.

[It was honest advice. Kylo was tired of being treated like a burden who wasn't worthy of basic respect.]

You seem to have forgotten that as well. Ever since the first moment we've met you decided that I was just some lowly, clueless officer to be ordered around at your whim.

[Hux hated being ordered around as if he was a lowly officer. He had worked hard to become the youngest general of the First Order only to have to prove himself to someone who didn't understand that and who thought he was incompetent at every turn.]
